Will the voting machines be fair? (WA)
This is another one of those "trust us, we know best" articles..

After the presidential election in 2004, Island County residents will soon see a new type of voting machines slowly making their way into the voting polls.

snip

The new law provides $3.9 billion to states over the next three years to update machinery, train workers and educate voters, according to Sinclair. Island County could receive approximately $250,000, but the new machines could cost up to $5,000 a piece. That would buy the 24 polling sites in Island County about two Direct Recording Electronic machines each.

snip

“Throwing a national election becomes a hard issue,” Sinclair said.

snip

Sinclair said many people believe the new machines could be secretly manipulated by the manufacturer, and that the complex variations of the ballot itself could be foreseen. She is skeptical on that issue.

“I don’t know how someone would know that,” she said.

1. How can a NON computer expert say "I don't know how.."
I am SURE Sinclair 'Does not know how' about many many many things...just because Sinclair 'Does not know how' does that mean it cannot be done? Might as well shut down all hospitals...Does Sinclair 'Know how' to set bones..remove brain tumors. Shut down all scientific endeavors..because from what I can tell by the statement Sinclair knows about as much about science as he does election fraud.

Why is it they BELIEVE the dead vote some sort of mystical way...and yet a live person cannot create two votes on a mystical machine???

These people make me sick!!!

2. Please pass this around

Here's something I think everyone should take a look at and pass around - My latest flash movie Called "VOTEREVOLUTION" - http://www.takebackthemedia.com/voterevolution.html

It also addresses the simple fact that DIEBOLD is capable of dispensing BILLIONS Of Receipts from their ATM's World Wide, but won't give us a Receipt for our VOTES - which are much more precious than mere money.

3. Look at this another way
Let's turn this around. If someone comissioned a black ops group to develop a voting system that could be covertly compromised at will, but looked secure to certification commitees with moderate technical competentancy. What would the system look like?

I submit that the Diebold system, as reviewed by Dr. Avi Rubin and his students, would fit this spec comfortably. Think I'm exagerating? Take a look at Dr. Rubin's rebuttal of Diebold, and read from the point of view I'm describing.

http://avirubin.com/vote/response.html

At one point in his rebuttal, Dr. Rubin stated "It is not inconceivable that a well funded adversary such as the intelligence service of a foreign government would be interested in tampering with the results of a U.S. election." He then went on to explain how this could be done with the current Diebold voting system. But perhaps it's not a foreign government that wants it this way?

Can we call the U.N. yet and ask for a monitored election?
