CNN: Bay Buchanan more upset re. Rove than our "spokesman" Valenti!
Candy Crowley just brought up the Rove situation on "Inside Politics" with Bay Buchanan (from the Right) and Jack Valenti, a Democrat, who I'm assuming is meant to speak for our side. A CNN clip of Rove (from the Republican Convention, I think) saying he didn't "name" Plame was shown, and Candy said that Rove was "dancing on the head of a pin" with his parsing of language. Bay then pronounced herself "alarmed" at Rove's behavior, but in the end thought he had committed no crime. Valenti said essentially that it was all politics, and might set Rove back a week or so -- but that he didn't see what the issue was, and why it was such a big deal!

I'm sure Valenti is a nice elderly man, but he's clueless. Can someone in our party please ask him to step aside as an on-air spokesman?

1. Valenti must be unaware that there's a criminal investigation
Where has he been? This has nothing to do with spin.

2. If KKKarl is found guilty, he would pray for a week or two set-back.
More like a 10 to 20 year set-back.

3. I saw that too...
Yeah, this is just "business as usual" in the politics blood sport...it'll blow over in a day or too...just the way Watergate did. No biggie.

I'm kind of glad that our dem leaders aren't getting involved with this. That would just verify it being all "politics". This time...we don't need them and we don't need the media...we've got the law on our side.

12. nope
he was being a dottering fool.

But the idea that Democrats should stay out of this is the nuanced crap we fall for everytime. No we should not stay out of this. No our leaders should not shut up and let the investigation take its course. We should be attacking with no quarter. Force them into retreat, make them show their hand. We have and advantage here (for once) and we need to press in on them from all sides. They will make mistakes if we can get them to panic, and that is exactly what can happen here.

6. You have a point
I don't really care about the media, either, because I'm confident Fitzgerald is doing his job, and indictments are coming.

8. CNN hired Jack cuz he was a crony of theirs
By identifying him as liberal (which he certainly is not!) they carry on their time-honored tradition of mislabeling and misleading. Valenti is indeed clueless and does the party no good. Just the way CNN wants it.

is probably a worthless corporate hack.

Valenti probably believes that downloading movies should carry stiffer penalties than endangering the life of a CIA operative.

by her own admission.

19. Jack Valenti a Democrat? gimme a break
If Jack Valenti says he's a Democrat, he's lying. Yes, at a point in the past, he served in a Democratic administration, but he is no Democrat.
