The company you work for--Blue or Red?
The newspaper I work for in CT is red, which sucks big time. I always thought, when I got hired, that they were Blue. In the past they would always endorse the DEM candidates but prior to my getting hired three years ago, the company was bought out and the new owners are RED.
I was just wondering if you folks object to working at a RED company.
Share your thoughts?
Thanks.

Somebody please...kill me.

The sad thing is I live in the bluest city in Texas. How I managed to hit the red "trifecta"(TM CHIMPY) is beyond me.

so I'm probably working for a RED company, though you wouldn't know it by talking to the people who work here.

Our CEO is a Registered Republican. According to open secrets, he gave a $1000 dollar campaign contribution to our Democratic Senator. He has made no similar donation to the State's Republican Senator. Personal relationships trumps political affiliation around here.

the one that can diagnose from afar. I work for an HCA hospital, one the good Sen. Frist, MD's family started. (Geez...don't you just love the ego, he must have the MD after his name, even when he uses Senator. Idiot.) Actually, I have a great job and work in a hospital that I really like, the people are great but it's hard to park in the garage with a blue bumpersticker; there are lots of W's on the cars. We do however have more liberals there than I had imagined at first.

15. Rated dark red by buyblue.com
The company I work for is so red that when a co-worker and friend of mine whom is a liberal applied for a job in the department that handles political contributions he was told that everyone who works there is Republican and Dems are not really welcome--according to my friend anyway.

He didn’t get the job.

21. Red owners, who curiously enough
prefer blue workers. (gee, wonder why). Really. Two very conservative brothers who still believe the Republicans are "fiscal" conservatives. Plus, they're both in that 1 percent that Bush gave the biggest tax breaks.
But. The two owners don't tolerate rightwing workers well. They become casualties. Often, it's their stubbornness and unwillingness to learn new ways of doing our work. But more often, it's attitude. The owners won't tolerate racism or sexism. Or arrogance, particularly when our clients are treated disrespectfully.
So. We liberals reap the rewards. More responsibility and larger paychecks.
Smart business people know that intolerance will cost a company money. I really hated it when one of my co-workers lost his job. He had a pregnant wife at home with a small child. But he wouldn't listen to those of us who tried to tell him his rightwing rants were irritating "the brothers" (owners). He felt that because they were Repubs. like him, he was safe.
He wasn't.

24. I wish that
conservatives were leaving the party due to the hijacking of the Republican Party by the American Taliban -- which hopes to relegate women to second class citizens, ostradize gay people, and continue discrimination against minorities.
Too many I know repeat "Bush will keep us safe."
Really. They truly believe that...or desperately want to believe that.
Here in the real world, we know that there really is no security. No Daddy to keep us safe. This is a dangerous world. Evil exists. And Bush sold the gullible a fairytale of security.
It doesn't exist.

26. My in-laws are in the same boat.
Life long republicans, mainline christian, fiscally conservative, pro choice and even cautiously pro gay marriage. But they just can't get their minds around the changes in the repub party. And I am convinced they will vote repub until they die, no matter how far the repub party diverges from their core values. Some sort of freaky brand loyalty is the only thing that explains it.

Before I went on disability I used to work in a small billing firm and the majority of the workers were ninety percent republican. It was amazing they even disagreed with some of the "cultural" issues in thier own party.
I finally sent out a company wide email that said from 8-4 casual conversation only no politics no problem. Sure it was risky but it also took care most of the problems.

38. Big time blue
it's a small law firm... the owner is bluer than blue. We're north of Greenwich Village in the trendy Meatpacking District. Everyone of us is super blue. All of our clients are foreign artists, models, creative and fashion personnel and I would say that 99.9% of them are blue (I can't say 100% because you can never know).

Just by being in a red part of rural Maryland, we can't help but have a lot of Bushites working here. But many people in our Baltimore and DC office are at least middle-of-the-road Democrats, with one or two outright lefties like me.

The owner of the business is an ultra-right-winger whose idea of winning the war in Iraq is to "kill them all". (What happened to liberating them?????)

Fortunately, everyone else I work with has political beliefs that range from light baby blue to dark midnight Navy blue. That's a comfort.
