I didn't expect him to have the grasp he did tonight of so many issues. He was smart to take advantage of his newcomer status and put off answering some questions instead of winging it.
He won the debate because he played the expectations game well

And his Jobs Plan is excellent. He is literally "moving money." Nicely done. You have to remember, this is the economic debate. It is not his strongest area, but he did well.

4. Well, he's probably kind of brilliant |
|
I fully expect him to have a full grasp of all issues and to be able to learn and understand everything that comes his way. I don't think he won the debate, but then I don't think anyone won or lost it. I think he did well as did..oh, nine out of ten of them. But when it comes to policies down the road, he's going to be like Clinton. He's going to be able to speak with knowledge and authority on anything that comes up. Thing is, he's not going to have the Bubba touch that Clinton does. His common touch is going to have to come from just being laid back and clear. He's going to have to learn to suffer fools gladly and that might be the toughest lesson he's got to absorb.

5. i noticed that to, & it will be more important as the campaign proceeds |

he appears to be a pretty deep thinker who goes quickly to first causes in his analysis of issues. but unfortunately he might be a better philosopher king than president for this very reason. politics does not allow cogetation.

6. Beauty is only skin deep. grandma |

Read up on his military operations and the grandmothers he was responsible for ordering strikes against in Kosovo and Columbia, inter alia.
I'm sure those dead grandmother civilians who died under his command in latin America and Eastern Europe mighta thought he was very nice if they saw him on tv too...
But he commanded those whom he ordered to bomb targets where civilians were killed and those bombs killed grandmas too...
Appearances deceive.
But War is hell and he was only following orders....

7. I believe he's just very good at presenting his ideas and opinions |
|
He is a Democrat, and has apparently long held democratic views He simply let us know where he's coming from through the debate format. And debating is not new to Clark. He did a lot of it in college I believe. The guy is a winner from the word go. He a good man and I believe he can destroy the beast.

do you consider long? 1/4 of his life, 1/3 of his life, 1/2 of his life, 2/3 of his life?
How about two months?

And agreed w union_maid that he didn't exactly win the debate. We don't always have to designate winners and losers, do we? Anyway, he was one of a few who did quite well. And given all the hype about him he didn't disappoint...in too many ways (again, I don't like what he said about health care...so far). But, yeah, he's a smart man. I'm tellin' ya, Arkansas can sure grow 'em. :)
