What is Shrub's approval rating now?
Did he get a bounce from the London attacks?

1. Undoubtedlly. I'm surprised Bush is not making "national addresses"
everyday invoking "terra" and fear to jack up his polls.

2. There's no doubt such a speech is coming
I heard an excerpt from a speech to the faithful and the FBI Academy in which he does just that and argues for renewal and expansion of the patriot act.

Small problem. Just about every commentator is asserting, with some merit, that shrub and his Iraq folly are the cause of the terrorism, and, slowly but surely, there's no escaping this conclusion. He's at the point now of emulating the child who claims mercy as an orphan after he kills his parents.

5. I may be off the mark here, but it does seem that what seemed like one
of Bush's biggest polling assets (steadfastness, resolve, etc.) is starting to read more like disconnect from reality with a larger segment of the public. I think the social security fiasco only added to that image.

3. the latest is a Pew poll-
http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

Pew Research Center for the People & the Press survey conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International. July 7-10, 2005. N=964 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.5.

"Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president?" If "Depends": "Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president?"

Approve %
Disapprove %
Unsure %

7/7-10/05
47
46
7

6/8-12/05
42
49
10

That's a 5% "bounce", but really tenuous. The timing says it's a maximum.

I bet next week will have 45s or 44s again. There isn't much left in the tank.

Over at Rasmussen, the absolute maximum in the numbers (they tease Undecideds over into very soft Bush support, perhaps correctly) is 51%, which precedes the bombing. So Bush has a fixed disapproval of 48-49%, a number that never decreases anymore.

4. Most people are getting sick of this.
They should figure out now that this is proof that he ain't done his job at all.
