Imagine: Bush as Nixon; Rove as John Mitchell...'the big enchilada'... |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 06:36 PM by MnFats
Nixon came to believe that if he cut loose his former attorney general and campaign chief the investigators and press would leave him alone on Watergate. Nixon and the remaining henchmen tossed 'the big enchilada' to the wolves, but still they kept coming.
anyone else see an occasional watergate parallel in all this???

And I've been waiting for August 9, 2006.

3. The Plame investigations have already taken longer than Watergate! |
|
The criminality of this Regime is at least an order of magnitude greater than the Nixon White House. That's no exaggeration.

....Nixon's whole political life was one of wanton criminality, venality, self-centered paranoia and, well, general evil.

5. Watergate started June 17, 1972. Impeachment started May 9 1974. |

That's 23 months. Plame was exposed as an agent 24 months ago. We could actually start the Plame 'clock' with Wilson's whistleblowing ... or the SOTU.

6. And that differs from b*sh how? |

Aside from the fact that Nixon actually did accomplish things without relying on his father's $$.
"wanton criminality, venality, self-centered paranoia and, well, general evil' sounds pretty applicable to the current Resident. You summarized him very well.

Agnew went first, which allowed them to put Ford in as the compromise middle-of-the-road guy who would pardon Nixon.
While it's possible that Cheney might resign, they would not replace him with any moderate... I would expect a Gonzales or even a Frisk.

8. Nope, these guys take pride in obfuscating/breaking the rules. |

You can call it blackmail, but Rove will find a different way to say it. This is the moment he's been studying for all his life.
