One word describes latest episode of Hurricane TV
http://www.suntimes.com/output/roeper/cst-nws-roep11.html

Admit it: Even as you were expressing sympathy for all those people fleeing hurricane Dennis, you were cracking up at the spectacle of reporters for CNN, Fox News Channel, et al., as they struggled to keep their footing while being pelted by the heavy rains and winds. It's just so . . . stupid. All these correspondents in their colorful slickers, picking up pieces of debris, pointing at lone nutcases who didn't evacuate, and comparing Dennis to Ivan and other hurricanes. And then you get the obligatory exchange where the dry-and-safe anchor tells the reporter to be careful.

You know, you can put cameras out there and record the magnitude of a storm without sticking Anderson Cooper on a balcony in Panama City Beach, telling us how much flying sand hurts when it's hitting you at 135 mph.

2. I'm just waiting for that piece of sheet metal to come flying by...
...and give (insert network here) an exclusive of what it looks like for a reporter to be decapitated during a hurricane.

3. The Weather Channel
is especially bad for that, they post someone anywhere the hurricane *might* make landfall.

4. I'm just appalled at the dumbing down of the media.
From Cable News to 'Reality' Television.

9. Perhaps we could send Geraldo on assignment
Where he is most likely to be attacked by a shark. Somewhere, like say, a tank full of hammerheads.

6. Did I miss something?
What's the one word? Kookkoo for Kokunuts? Idiotic? Diversionary? Yep, the media is a piece of work. Shucks, better not say that. That's Junior's special coinage for the P.M. of Luxemberg.

10. it's irresponsible too
I bet seeing all these reporters "braving the storm" is the reason a lot of people don't evacuate when they should. They don't see the CNN chopper ready to evacuate Anderson before the full brunt of the storm really hits.
