A Repuke was upset teachers are discouraging black kids from going to Iraq
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 09:06 PM by billbuckhead
I heard it at work today. "Liberals are telling students not to fight for their country, not to join the Army." I said said they were going to fight for Halliburton. He said, maybe I had a point. Maybe. It's unclear even to Republicans that this war is worth dying for. Middle Americans are now unclear about what it means to fight for your country.

This is one of the insidious things about this unnecessary war, fought for fictitious reasons, waged by a government of dubious legitimacy. Today's professional "volunteer" Army was kind of an insulation to this age old thorny question but now that recruiting is sagging, middle America must now face the questions and acrimony of supplying troops for an increasingly unpopular war.

1. When is the last time
anyone in the US really 'fought for their country' ? WWII ? the Civil War before that ? the American Revolution ? All 3 are debatable to some extent I guess.

2. Liberals don't say, don't fight for your country.
Liberals say this Iraq war ISN'T fighting for your country. It's fighting, at best, for someone else's country, to make Iraqis happy and safe. At worst, it's fighting for Halliburton profit and to keep Bush from having to admit a mistake.

3. Teachers are crazy
Always telling kids to avoid drugs, telling them not to smoke, telling them not to drink and drive, not to get involved with gangs, and now telling them they shouldn't go to a hotbed of terrorism with a giant target on their armorless asses.

4. The repuke can go enlist itself.
I've read enough history to know of segregated troupes AND that they were the ones to be sent in first.

"Disposable people" is not just slavery. It's using them as a miner would a canary; putting someone else into danger just so he can save himself.

Vile.

I'd encourage the opposite.

This is whitey *'s war. He's man enough to fight it on his own.

I know what it means to fight for this Country. I also know what it means to be a second class citizen.

I also know that a war worth fighting is based on very serious issues and sure as hell based on true statements. *'s war was based on a personal vendetta first; protecting the oil wells second; helping halliburton third. Nixing vets' bennies and allowing museums and national treasures to be looted (not excluding Saddam's puny pistol) were of no interest to *; hence the soldiers' orders NOT TO INTERVENE DURING THE LOOTING. (BTW: Another DUer put up a link a short while back saying that those museum treasures were sold to gain money for terrorist organizations. Swift move, *. Twit.)

Freepers. Feel free to include Clinton in your response. I'll go back even further and cite examples of how previous presidents were scum too. Let's stick to the present; how does it matter now that Clinton was prepared to "wag the dog" or whatever as well?

5. I hope this Repuke was home visiting from between tours
in Iraq. Otherwise he can put up or shut up IMHO.

6. The irony of this whole debacle is...
that this fraudulent war, which was supposed to show off American military supremacy, is going to end up destroying our military. Is there anything - economy, military, image, environment, and so on - that these maniacs haven't f..ked up?
