I will say this about Sharpton... |
|
If he were the nominee he would likely lose, but in a debate with * Sharpton would just mop up the floor. You can tell (in today's debate) that Sharpton is not coached. He is blunt and outspoken, while still remaining polite and professional. He uses plain spoken talk that would resonate with ordinary people and he has a sense of humor that connects with working people.

6. That happened to Edwards last time |
|
Edwards followed Sharpton at the last debate, and he conceded that it was probably the shittiest podium you could have that night. I'm paraphrasing of course.
I'm liking Edwards the more I see him by the way.

15. nope, best line al made was "i got to america by bad trade policies" |
|
that was not so funny as it was a fundamental and oft ignored truth.
sharpton is the only candidate who is speaking his own mind, all the others are running for office, al is running to make people listen.

8. I thought it was evident in the debate |
|
That Sharpton could end up supporting Clark. In fact he was very supportive during the debate.
I hope he gets some substantial involvement in return, if Clark gets the nomination. (That's a big "if.")

I totally agree. And I was astounded at how articulately and forcefully he made his points, while avoiding an over-rehearsed robotic demeanor.
Man, I hope he keeps this up. He elevated the debate; he really did.
I was just blown away by him.

4. So what does that say about the voters? |
|
He makes more sense, but would lose if he were the nominee?

9. He's The Epitome Of A "Mercurial Wit" |
|
I think he's doing what he was put on Earth to do! For a while it seemed he would fall into the trap of self interest... but I truly believe that he has set his sights on achieving more for Both himself and his fellow men and women.

10. Definitely not coached. It's experience |
|
Think about it! Sharpton has had to fight, for years, with little to back him but his own determination and his intelligence. His circumstances (ie little to no support from the "establishment") require that he be able to appeal to ordinary people because without them, he'd have NO support.

11. Sharpton is a great speaker.. |
|
and I think that whoever wins the nomination, he should employ him as a speach writer or press secretary. As a matter of fact it would be nice if the entire bunch (with about 3 exceptions) would unite and work together after we win the whitehouse in 2004.

22. That's why I was glad to hear that he was running. |
|
No, he may not win, but he brings up topics that might not get discussed and he's a hoot to listen to. I'd like to see him be our next President if for no other reason than to listen to him. Imagine how good the State of the Union address would be!

18. A debate with * and Sharpton is about the most delicious thought |
|
I can imagine. Oh, if only. I'll never forget the wonderful Shadow Inauguration (or something like that) speech Sharpton gave the day AHole was sworn in. I was in a total rage that day, and CNN was presenting *'s illegal occupation like it was business as usual. Nothing else but that canned spin was on the mainstream media. Then I started running errands and heard NPR talking about what was REALLY happening. I rushed home and turned on C-SPAN. Finally, I heard about the protests, egg throwing etc., and watched Sharpton's masterful speech. I really love that guy.

19. I like Rev. Sharpton. |
|
Can't see myself voting for him in a primary, but I'd love to see him as part of a Democratic administration.
In fact, all the candidates merit a position... simply for their courage alone.

that Sharpton's got nothing to lose, so he's able to cut loose and tell it like it is. (Yeah, I'm showing my age there. :hippie: ) But I love that he's doing it. He's a breath of fresh air after the DLC and their RePug-lite schtick.
I've noticed in reading a buncha blogs today that a lot of people want him and Moseley Braun to drop out of the race. I hope they stay in long as possible...I think we need to have minority voices included in the campaign, and those are two of the most eloquent voices in the party.
