Frank Zappa was a frickin' genius
Zappa was a prophet. He fortold the future. He had the whole pack of media whores pegged to a tee, before they even existed. He outed Tweety, Hannity, O'Reilly, Scarborough, Blitzer and on and on and on and on.

From Zappa's "The Slime"

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks.. Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livingroom floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

4. Only,one man saw it coming
Zappa was on CROSSFIRE 19 years ago, a panel in which Robert Novak took part. The topic was on obscenity in rock lyrics and about midway through the show, Zappa mentioned the phrase "theocratic fascism". I don't know if he was the one who'd coined it but when I was watching this on http://ifilms.com, it blew me away. And, don't forget, this was when the Moral Majority wasn't as big as it is now.

10. I think Dylan had his finger on that pulse as well...
In "It's Alright, Ma" he had some pretty amazing things to say.

Though the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools...

It's easy to see without looking too far
That not much is really sacred

Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex they dare
to push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity who really cares
Propaganda, all is phoney

Not to mention "Subterreanean Homesick Blues"

I'm on the pavement
thinking 'bout the government

Look out, kid
They keep it all hid

Don't follow leaders

Don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows

6. You and my wife
...would get along famously. They are, I believe, her three favorite musicians, too. It would be very interesting to see what Lennon's reaction to these right wing puppets would've been.

13. Zappa was so far ahead of his time.
We knew it back in the '70s. It's a shame we lost him so early.

One of the reasons I never cared for Al Gore, was because he and Tipper hauled him up in front of a Senate investigation of dirty rock lyrics. He made them all look like fools. Especially, Florida nutjob Senator Paula Hawkins. He even put parts of the hearing in a record.
