Just heard Bob Woodward say he didn't see where Karl Rove
committed any kind of crime. I was listening to the Doug Stefan Show this morning and according to Bob Woodward he thinks this Plame Case is just a Prosecutor going wild and he doesn't see where any crime was committed.

12. Read my Post #11...there is a LOT more proof than just his current...
...statement supporting Rove.

3. Well, Bob is just a burned out reporter, not an attorney or judge
and now he is more a paid talking head than reporter.

4. Bob Woodward ...
the man who helped define and destroy investigative journalism in our lifetime.

Douchebag!

5. I'm Sure The Evidence Is There
After all, nobody disputes that a crime has been committed. They just need to do a little investigating. Invoke the Patriot Act, why don't they?

7. Bob worked for
those who wanted to get Nixon out of office. In part, because Nixon was a crook; in part, because he was too liberal. Bob is a very right-wing fellow, and has long been in bed with the boys in this administration. He is a neocon intel type of guy.

9. I did not know that
thanks for the information... usually when you hear about reporters attacking high level corruption, the reporter is usually stereotyped as one of those idealistic liberals.

18. There is a lot of myth-making
going on these days. For example, those who shed tears for poor Judith often note that "Deep Throat" would never have leaked information to Woodward if the law had been what it is today. Of course, this is nonsense, as Branzburg was decided in 1972. Watergate was becoming a scandal at the time.

Further, there is no evidence that Felt really leaked anything significant to Woodward per say. Rather, he seemed to direct him, and to confirm (or deny) the information Woodward had acquired from following Felt's directions.

Once we step back, and not listen to the misinformation, we find that Woodward was associated with Felt before he was a journalist. He became acquainted through his time with ONI. Felt had been ONI in it's earlier days, in WW2. Felt was the mentor who suggested Woodward take up journalism, although Felt despised the media, and Woodward showed no skills in theis area. In other words, Felt was Woodward's "handler." It is safe to say that there is little or no evidence that Woodward's political beliefs were much different than Felt's, and he was a remarkably conservative man who had no deeply felt regard for the constitutional rights of those who disagreed with him.

13. Given the connections between the old Nixon crowd and the current...
...batch of NeoCons, Woodwards comments are not surprising at all.

See my Post #11 for more back-up to your comments.

8. Once an administration gives you unlimited access so you
can write a book about the war, you have officially become a propaganda mouthpiece for them. Sorry Bob, your time has come and gone.

And when you have authored two such books, you're twice as in debt to the machine.

11. Woodward has his own ties to the intelligence community, and based....
...on his recent book, I suspect he has VERY strong ties to the NeoCons. I found the "slam dunk" statement he attributed to then CIA Director George Tenet about WMDs in Iraq to be highly suspect, especially since the only "witnesses" were NeoCons with an history of repeatedly lying about nearly everything.

Woodward has a long history of appearing to make things up such as the interview he claims to have conducted in the hospital room of the dying CIA Director William Casey. Given the amount of security assigned to Casey's room, and the statements made by family and others that Casey was no longer able to speak at that point in time, this story is also highly suspect.

I have always found it to be very interesting that a journalist with about 18 months of experience in the field, to include his 6 months at the Washington Post, would have had the kind of contacts necessary to generate the Watergate series by he and Bernstein.

Here's his backgound...see what you make of it. I personally believe that he is NOT connected to the CIA as the article contends, but I do believe that he IS connected to one of the intelligence goups associated with the Pentagon, perhaps Navy Intelligence, and/or possibly the shadowy NeoCon group associated with Feith and Rumsfeld:

Bob Woodward
<http://www.webcom.com/ctka/pr196-woodward.html>

QUOTE:

The staunchly conservative Bob Woodward grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. A good student at Yale, he was ultimately one of fifteen seniors "tapped" for one of that university's secret societies, Book and Snake, a cut below the more infamous Skull and Bones, but the top of the second-tier fraternities. Woodward had his first journalistic experience working for the Banner, a Yale publication. In his 1965 yearbook he was referred to as a "Banner mogul." Havill writes.

...snip...

Three days after graduating from Yale, Woodward was sent by the U.S. Navy to Norfolk, Virginia, where he was commissioned as an ensign by none other than U.S. Senator George Smathers from Florida. Bob's assignment was to a very special ship, called a "floating Pentagon," the U.S.S. Wright. The ship was a National Emergency Command Ship-a place where a President and cabinet could preside from in the event of a nuclear war. It had elaborate and sophisticated communications and data processing capabilities. It had a smaller replica of the war room at the Pentagon. It ran under what was called SIOP-Single Integrated Operation Plan. For example, in the event of nuclear war, the Wright was third in line to take full command if the two ahead of it, the Strategic Air Command in Omaha (SAC) and NORAD, were rendered incommunicado. Woodward-straightfacedly-told authors Colodny and Gettlin (Silent Coup) that he guessed he was picked for the ship because he had been a radio ham as a kid.

Aboard the Wright, Woodward had top secret "crypto" clearance-the same clearance researcher Harold Weisberg found had been assigned to Lee Harvey Oswald when he was himself in the Marines. Such clearance in Woodward's case gave him full access to nearly all classified materials and codes on the ship. Woodward also ran the ship's newspaper. Woodward has insisted that possessing a high security clearance is not necessarily indicative of intelligence work.

The Wright carried men from each of the military services, as well as CIA personnel. One of Havill's government sources reported that the CIA would likely have had additional informants on a ship of such sensitivity, adding that "the rivalry between the services was intense."

15. Counter: the media should play Daddy Bush talking about treason - non-stop
as in revealing the identity of an undercover operative. It would serve several purposes: the freeps would find it hard to ignore, coming as it were from one of their patron saints, and it would increase the odds of *'s head exploding and/or him having a psychotic breakdown in public.

I'm not holding my breath, but hey.

17. Karl's a martyr, Judy Miller is a marrtyr
But nobody ever mentions the shitcanned career of Valerie Plame or how losing a WMD operative during a war justified as the only way to eliminate WMD, shows how much they lied and how far they'll go to cover up their lies.
