WWE Smackdown Featured Arab Terrorist Attack Last Thursday
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117925769?categoryid=1011&cs=1&s=h&p=0

World Wrestling Entertainment and UPN have heard from several concerned viewers following last Thursday's "WWE Smackdown," which depicted a terrorist-like attack involving a group of Arab-Americans and a wrestling opponent.

The episode aired the same day as the subway and bus bombings in London; UPN ran a crawl on its screen four times through the broadcast, noting that, "In light of today's tragic events in London, parental discretion is advised in viewing this episode."

That wasn't enough of a warning for some viewers, who took offense at the depiction of Arab-American wrestlers Daivari and Muhammad Hassan -- who was shown in the episode praying while five men wearing ski masks rushed the ring and choked the "good guy," longtime WWE wrestler the Undertaker.

WWE and UPN said they were unable to alter the episode, due to the tight timeframe between the show's taping earlier in the week and its Thursday night timeslot.

11. Yep and both of them have come back for some events
They have wrestlers who represent the worst of republicans and the worst of liberals. They use whatever they can to get viewers and fans. *sigh* can't wait for my kid to grow out of this...... :eyes:

2. I am glad I stopped watching
I used to be a huge fan back in the glory days of the von erichs awa and nwa however its gotten so right wing I just cant watch it. I wont say anything bad about the athleticism of the athletes allthough my favorites sting piper and brett hart and mick foley arent around any longer. I wish they'd go back to concentrating on skill rather than all the works that go around with it.

3. Pro Wrestling is a lot like the BA White House - a moronic circus

4. BTW, did you ever hear Mick Foley on radio?

Quite an articulate, talented and thoughtful guy. Seems to be liberal. I think he should try talk radio or TV, I think he'd be fairly good. Has a decent speaking voice.

5. I did not mean to say that the wrestlers are moronic...
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 10:46 AM by wake.up.america
its the plots and stories that go along with today's wrestling. Sorry if I stepped on anybody's toes or dropped an elbow or gave anyone a flying head butt off the top ropes.

15. Check out the last chapter(s) of "Foley Is Good"
to find out his take on the PTC - they refused to give their research to prove their attacks on "rasslin" - not because of his lack of effort.

(I just finished reading it - bought it at the same second-hand store that I bought "Leadership" by Rudy G for a quarter - hardbound and autographed)

6. I never understood
the appeal of wrestling. It always seemed so fake and stupid. And the characters always looked like they were fools of themselves with the costumes and everything else.

16. For me it was about acrobatics

It was well executed movie action the closest thing you could get to super human batman type stuff you could never see on a weekly basis. I am not talking about the three hundred pounder ponderous behmouths either. What am saying are the lighter guys and the combinations of takedowns and suplexes and ariel routines that was to me just simply fantastic to watch. Everything else i would agree with you is just hooey.

7. Wow, how horrible, they never should have done it in the first place
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 10:45 AM by jsamuel
Maybe now they should make a secret WH Advisor in a ski mask run up and start strangling the "hero" instead!

12. Well, just like the Bush campaign, pro wrestling appeals to the basic
most moronic instincts of people and requires a huge leap of faith to believe anything you see or hear.

14. WWE is republican supporter!
I am glad I stopped watching it last year. They used to trash the French and anti-war protesters as unpartiotic. Many WWE fans are kind of really into this stuff. Who are they gonna belive Steiner or kerry, lol. After WWE I began watching NBA, which is way more interesting.
