Had a little LTTE published yesterday |
|
in response to another letter accusing the Supreme Court of being liberal as evidenced by their eminent domain ruling.
Titled as "That high court "liberal" a delusion".
Re; the June 29 LTTE accusing the Supreme Court of being liberal. "I can't decide whether the writer is disingenuous or delusional. This is the same court that stopped the vote count in Florida to ensure George W. Bush the presidency." I then went over Dubyas use of eminent domain to procure land for the Ranger stadium. Then I concluded with; "The court has only reaffirmed the right of eminent domain to be used, the same one the self-proclaimed "compassionate conservative" in the oval office tried to use to his great financial benefit."

QUOTE
All the hoopla over the Supreme Court's ruling allowing local governments to use eminent domain to take private property and sell it to corporations ignores the deal George W. Bush pulled.
In 1989, Bush borrowed money and paid about $605,000 for less than 2 percent ownership of the Texas Rangers. He then used Daddy's political contacts and eminent domain to take 13 acres for the club. Bush and cronies even conned local government into building a $191 million stadium.
The group sold the club a few years later and Bush received $14 million for his hard work, a profit of more than 2,200 percent on his investment.

the part of my letter stating that Dubya and cohorts stuck the tax-payers with much of the cost of the stadium. I very much wanted that in but still, "a half a loaf is better than nothing".
