White House "Breaks Silence" on Rove
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 02:18 PM by Crankie Avalon
White House expresses confidence in Rove

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House broke its silence and said on Tuesday that President Bush continued to have confidence in his top political adviser, Karl Rove, despite his involvement in a scandal over the leak of the identity of a CIA agent.

"Any individual who works here at the White House has the president's confidence. They wouldn't be working here if they didn't have the president's confidence," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters in answer to a question.

McClellan had previously refused to say whether Bush still had confidence in Rove in two days of pointed questioning. He said the White House was asked to remain silent by prosecutors investigating who leaked the identify of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame.

Bush had pledged to dismiss any leakers in the case, which is being investigated by a special prosecutor.

4. Make up your mind, Scottie. I thought you couldn't talk about it.
apparently, he LIED about not being allowed to discuss the issue since it was part of an ongoing investigation.

new day, different answer.

guess he just wants the press to shut up and not ask him uncomfortable questions.

12. Yesterday the Bush Cult didn't have a fix on the policy.
They got together last night and agreed on the fix. They are going circle the wagons and send out the word to their Corp Media to focus upon Joe Wilson and smear him with vigour. The Offensive is their stock and trade.

5. The White House was asked to remain silent until...
...they can find a way to get Karl out of this little mess and avoid firing the Treasonous bastard.

Gee. Do you think they'd go to as much trouble for a Democrat who committed the same crime in the same circumstance?

HA!

Pretentious Hypocrisy is the Hallmark...well. You know.

7. We can only hope
I hope this is the same kind of 'confidence' Reagan had during his presidency. It seemed like everytime Reagan said he had "full confidence" that person was soon to leave the government either by resignation, retirement or being outright fired. Of course they never call it firing. Maybe Rove needs to spend more time with his family or taken advantage of some new business opportunities or maybe spend some time in a jail cell.

8. That's a hell of a stretch....
...to dig that single statement out of that BEATING that Scotty took today.

Talk about "out of context"!

Anyone who watched the whole thing got a VERY different idea
of what "The White House" thinks.

No way, no how will this administration EVER admit a mistake. Chimpy thinks its a sign of weakness, remember? Chimp Boy can't be Weak!

This pychological problem will work to our advantage, as ChimpCo refuses to chuck the Doughboy overboard, thus causing his numbers to continue to sink, and hopefully hamstringing his ability to push through more disasterous policies.

There are just stalling as they work on coming up with the best possible "the documents are forged/the liberal media/partisan politics" defense. Too bad for them Fitzgerald has too much documentary evidence for their smokescreen to work this time.

18. Better if Chimpy digs in teeny tiny heels
More of the sleeping public might wake up to the hideous nature of this administartion if they see Chimpy clinging on to his treasonous advisor. Even some Repugnantcans might finally say enough is enough.

Douglas Maher - All Headline News Staff Reporter

London,UK (AHN) - Brian May, guitarist for the legendary rock group Queen, is commenting on the recent terrorist attacks in London.

He says, "I sense there is a mood of quiet resolve among the people I speak to. We are feeling that we must not go any further down the road of escalation...this is old stuff, but I personally feel that in the wake of 9/11 an opportunity was missed...to seek understanding rather than revenge."

May adds, "The Nelson Mandela way. I do not subscribe to this "War on Terrorism" slogan. I believe we have a need to secure a peaceful world for our children, and that it cannot be done by exerting our muscle internationally. It sure hasn't worked yet, has it?! It must be done by adjusting our behavior — we must stop playing 'Cowboys & Indians' - a self-damning phrase if ever there was one. I no longer believe we are the good guys. We must earn this view of ourselves, and start recognizing that there are other legitimate views of the world than ours."

May did not stop there offering advice to the British government after the attacks of last week.

"So where do we go from here? Search everyone before they go on a bus? On a tube train? Walking down the street? This is the road to insanity...a climate of fear, which, sadly, the U.S.A. is already experiencing. It's time we attacked the cause rather than the symptoms. I want to see our politicians answer the question 'Why?' Why do people hate us this much? What can we do to change this? It's no use thinking we are dealing with a small bunch of maniacs, as seems to be the popular view, who need to be 'stamped out.'

He adds, "The reality is we are looking at a large number of entire countries of people to whom the American (and English) flag is a symbol of evil. Of selfishness and bullying imperialist aggression. This is what we must address. This is what we owe it to our children to do. In my opinion."

Queen recently teamed up with former Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers to do a major tour of Europe and North America. Their latest round of UK shows were scrapped due to the terror attacks.
