Nixon resigns in utter shame.

2 years of Ford.
4 years of Carter.
8 years of Reagan.
4 years of Poppy.
8 years of Clinton.
8 years of Chimp.

22-12.

:wtf:

1. Did over 1700 American soldiers die for Watergate?
How many troops died over a blow job or Arkansas land deal?

10. You know that is what kills me most about this administration
One scandal after another, too many to count, and not one investigation (until Rove). Yet we wasted two years investigaing a blow job. How insane is that?

5. The American voter barely blinked (2 centrist Dems) over WG.
All I'm saying is that if these criminals are exposed, it better sink in this time.

8. Nope.
The House Judiciary Committee approved three articles of impeachment, rejecting two others. The vote of the whole House was scheduled for August 19, 1974, but never took place. (Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974.) Ford pardoned Nixon on September 8, 1974.

9. Ah. I read somewhere (a while back) that they did a "ceremony" vote anyway

Thanks!

On edit:

This is what I was talking about.(confused though I got it)

On August 20, 1974, the House voted to print the report authorizing them to impeach Nixon...I remembered it as "accept" the articles. My bad. Tip O'Neil sponsored the resolution which passed 412-3. H.R. 1333

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/R?d093:FLD003:@1(Rep+O'Neill)

The above is the link to it but it doesn't work by clicking

You have to go here: http://thomas.loc.gov/
and search for Tip O'Neil, HR 1333, 1974

Or go here and click on HR 1333

My memory is getting bad but at least my mind's not completely gone...yet. whew!

11. That would be to print the House Judiciary Report, I believe.
It's "housekeeping" ... authorizing the GPO to publish the House Judiciary Committe reporting back to the House recommending three articles of impeachment. It's for historical purposes.

8/20/74 Measure passed House, roll call #505 (412-3)
Authorizes the printing of the report (H. Rept. 93-1305) recommending that the House exercise its constitutional power to impeach Richard M. Nixon, President of the United States.

12. Yeah, I said that. I remembered it as "accept" and explained my
error.

But I knew the house took a vote after he resigned...just remembered it wrongly.

But then I was around 10 at the time I first read about it.
