Joe Wilson is getting slimed all over the place
So why isn't he being asked to
stand up and defend himself?
I'm sure he's more than capable of
mopping the floor with Newt Fucking
Gingrich...

3. Maybe its so obvious.
Besides I think that outing his wife like that was part of a smear campaign, which started all the real trouble in the first place.

4. Ambassador Wilson is smart and patient.
Wilson knows that the Grand Jury process is a long one and why would he gum up the works or tip his hand by stating new knowledge now.
Besides, everything he wanted to say is in his book "Politics of Truth".

6. Probably because
the fact Wilson is being slammed is a propaganda implosion.

Wilson has nothing to do with Rove outing a CIA asset.

That line of "defense" is also ironic: a pointless, ad hominem attack to defend an action that in itself was a pointless, ad hominem attack.

They're fucked.

,...with the same ole' lines,...the same ole' shit,...even the most fearful and dependent can no longer deny being beaten down as an old rug."

"They" ARE fucked,...and deserve far more retribution than they will likely receive. BUT, I have this unidentifiable faith that, these barriers to human progress will be destroyed for some time.

On edit: if I had a choice of punishment for these bastards, I'd make them watch the death and destruction they sponsored every freakin' day for one full year. Then, I'd demand they testify in public about why they deceived folks into such blood-letting assaults upon humanity and I'd demand their perception of their acts after having witnessed the REAL LIFE sacrifices for their imposition.

7. Joe Wilson
is a lot tougher than all these people put together. I have seen him so many times on television and he can take care of himself. He isn't some little weenie. He is a career diplomat who has had to deal with a lot harder nuts than Ken Mehlman and Norm Coleman, who by the way is thicker than a brick. This continued smear against Wilson will backfire. The republicans are not in control of the ball this time.

8. DISTRACTION DISTRACTION DISTRACTION
Because it is a distraction issue. It has nothing to do with the leak. The Bush Admin would like nothing better than to make this about Wilson instead of Rove, Cheney, and Bush.

10. I think he has the strength of steel
I mean, this is a guy who went to meet Sadam with his own rope around his neck. But the big mistake that Rover made was outing Wilson's wife. I'm sure that a lot of us who can stand up for ourselves in a diplomatic way would be really pissed and ready to rumble if someone attacks and harms a member of our family.

13. And to Rover
they are obviously of little or no consequence. After all, Wilson refused to be assimilated to the Bush Borg so they no longer have a right to an independent existence! Gad, the more I think about this and the more I read, the madder I get. It is absolutely beyond me that anyone could do this to someone, and yet there are so many people on the "other side" who seem to think destroying people is just dandy! :grr:

21. You're forgetting the special theory of negative equivalences!
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 12:19 AM by kenny blankenship
If Joe Wilson only has 2 outstanding parking tickets THAT CANCELS OUT Rove's offenses, whether that's disclosing the identity of a covert agent, or perjury, or obstruction of justice, or all of these crimes at once. Parking tickets equal treason and both are canceled out. Well, not exactly--Wilson will still have to pay the fines for the parking tickets. Can't be soft on crime!

Let me explain: when person A is not blameless, his testimony against person B's crimes is null and void. Because A's misdemeanors or even misstatements are held equal to B's criminality--including acts of treason and murder, legally and morally B must be held harmless and blameless and must never be tried or questioned again of this or related matters. Meanwhile A's discreditting is complete and irrevocable, even if B's crime doesn't require person A's testimony for a conviction. If person A was the source of a public accusation that resulted in a criminal investigation against B, and if A is impure, then B is not guilty of anything. Impurity can be defined legally in terms of charges newly lodged or stale accusations that A did something in the past which cannot even be prosecuted anymore. Or impurity can mean an arrest for jaywalking during one's college days, without charges filed. Impurity can mean overdue library books. Whatever can be found against A, is proof that A is not pure and impurity is proof that A is not worthy to take down B. Of course that is only true when person B is a Republican. Under Fascism, everything is relative to your party and your place in the party structure. Truth is relative to party. Law is relative to party. Everything...

So the special theory of negative equivalences is in fact only a consequence of the General Theory of Relativity: if you're a Republican, you're relatively untouchable, especially as you rise in relative importance. Technically, Mother Teresa herself couldn't bring charges against Karl Rove as a consequence of the special theory of negative equivalences.

All the repug bullshit about Joe Wilson or who arranged to send him to Africa means nothing. Fitzgerald's concern is the outing of Valerie Wilson.

19. Wilson explained himself well during the DSM hearings
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 12:08 AM by LSK
Maybe you can catch it at CSPANS archives.

Here is exactly what he said:

"In February 2002 I was asked by the CIA to
meet with the American intelligence community
officials charged with understanding Iraq's weapons
of mass destruction programs in order to discuss an
intelligence report that had caught the attention
of the Office of the Vice President. The report
concerned the alleged sale of a significant amount
of uranium yellow cake from the West African nation
of Niger to Iraq.

I was asked to attend this meeting because
of my extensive experience in Niger and with the
government that had been in power in that country
during the time the supposed sale had taken place.
Additionally, as the Senate Select Committee on
Intelligence has reported, I have previously
traveled to Niger to look into other uranium-related
matters.

At this meeting I was briefed that
American intelligence had either seen or been
briefed by a foreign intelligence service about the
existence of documents purporting to be a
memorandum of sale between Niger and Iraq. I did
not see any documents as I have said and written
repeatedly. I understand they were not in the
possession of the U.S. government at the time of
the meeting.

At the meeting I was asked if I would
consider traveling to Niger to try to find answers
to lingering questions that analysts might have.
That was the first time the suggestion of traveling
to Niger was ever raised with me.

There have been assertions that my wife
Valerie, a CIA operations officer in the
counterproliferation area suggested or recommended
me for the trip. She did not. The CIA a week
after her identity was compromised by Robert Novak
told Knut Royce and Tim Phelps of Newsday that, She
did not recommend her husband to undertake the
Niger assignment. They, the officers who did ask
Wilson to check the uranium story, were aware of
who she was married to which is not surprising.
There are people elsewhere in government who were
trying to make her look like she was the one who
was cooking this up, he, the CIA spokesman said. I
can't understand why. The CIA has repeated this
denial to all who have asked since including
David Ensor of CNN and Doyle McManus of the Los
Angeles Times. She was not at the meeting where
the trip was first raised with me."

22. more PROOF that Plame didnt send Wilson
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 12:30 AM by LSK
Novak reported that his "two senior administration officials" told him that it was Plame who suggested sending her husband, Wilson, to Niger.

A senior intelligence official confirmed that Plame was a Directorate of Operations undercover officer who worked "alongside" the operations officers who asked her husband to travel to Niger.

But he said she did not recommend her husband to undertake the Niger assignment. "They were aware of who she was married to, which is not surprising," he said. "There are people elsewhere in government who are trying to make her look like she was the one who was cooking this up, for some reason," he said. "I can't figure out what it could be."

http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-phelps0722,0,2044545.story
At the bottom.

Another source:

Novak reported in his July column that Plame suggested her husband for the Niger visit, but officials told CNN Tuesday she had nothing to do with the decision. "She did not recommend him. It was not her idea to send him," said one official.
