Kyra Philips and CNN's bad memory
Many commented on Kyra's editorializing during today's Live From... on CNN about the "smear campaign" that poor little Rove was being subjected to by Democrats. As you can see from their transcripts, it never happened. (Posted this on another thread but it got sort of lost down there).

At least she might be a nice fresh pretty face for Conservative Idiots, along with CNN.

Compare:

Mediamatters

BOB FRANKEN (national correspondent): And just a nod from the president, but no answer, Kyra, when he was asked about Karl Rove today at a photo op. Kyra?

PHILIPS: Bob, definitely a major smear campaign going on. I mean, what's the chances of hearing from Karl Rove? Could he speak? Could he come forward? A lot of people said that could just clear the air if he just came forward and gave the facts.

FRANKEN: Well, the White House would respond that the Democrats are involved in something akin to a smear campaign. The Democrats would only say that they're only interested in good government. And the White House says that in the context of an investigation that's ongoing Karl Rove should not speak.

CNN transcript

(END VIDEO CLIP)

FRANKEN: Senator Clinton is nodding and everybody is waiting to see if the White House, Kyra, blinks on the Karl Rove matter.

PHILLIPS: So what's the talk, Bob, and what are you hearing from your sources? Will Karl Rove come forward and talk, like a lot of people are asking him to do?

FRANKEN: Well, the White House is making it clear that right now it is going to still to the confidentiality of the investigation. The lawyer for Karl Rove says he has talked to the grand jury but assured that Rove is not suspected of a crime.

Everybody is parsing his words very carefully. I think the thing to watch for is how the political winds blow.

Emphasis mine - oh the irony!

My latest missive to CNN:

Earlier today I sent you some feedback re: Kyra Philips comment on Live From... about Rove being the subject of a "smear campaign" being run by Democrats.

Looking at your transcript of the show, I am so glad to see that it never happened, that she never issued such a statement.

That was sarcasm, obviously. Were you planning on issuing a retraction, or perhaps even an apology, or were you just hoping it would be lost down the memory hole?

Seriously, CNN should find a new motto, as the "Most Trusted Name in News" is now only defensible relative to the dishonesty of such other Corporate Media outlets such as Fox.
