Tonights premier of 'Wide Angle' w/Bill Moyers..Any thoughts?

I've been following the Chechen uprising for quite a while now,.. Oddly I just picked a book up last week entitled; 'Chechnya,Tombstone of Russian Power' by Anatol Lieven, published in 1998. Only a couple hundred pages into it now, but the author paints Shamil Bashiev, leader of the rebels with a very kind brush...Obviously pre- Beslan and the Moscow theater takeover. Interesting that Moyers asked the two WaPo reporters if Chechnya was Putins Vietnam or Iraq...and the guy said something like 'Oh, much like Vietnam'... I guess our quagmire hasn't gone on long enough. As an aside, I cannot get my mind around the taking of innocent hostages as a means to an end. (nor can I get my mind around dropping bombs on innocents as a means to an end.)
