2. This is only about one thing IMO
what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong-Rove was wrong. He should go-it won't weaken Bush because he'll just join Karen Hughes in Texas and wreak his havoc there.Because if I were a betting man I'd put ZERO of my hard earned cash on him doing even one second of jail time.I just don't think WE should pay him anymore for his dis-service.Fire him...

3. It's part of 'the plan' for sure...but 'the plan' is to distract
attention from the DSM. Which it is doing very well, even here at DU where people should know better.

These guys are very clever; they're using the same technique used to thwart an attacking dog: get the dog to bite a stick, and then pull on the stick, 'trying' to 'take it away' from the dog. Unless the dog is extremely well trained, it'll immediately fixate on the resistance and forget that the stick doesn't matter. It should let go the stick and resume its attack on the human, but it can't. It's caught.

Rove is the stick.

Just as he was sacked by Bush One, he'll eventually be sacked by Bush Two and we dogs will go around patting ourselves on the back about the (meaningless) victory, having been completely distracted from our original goal.

4. I don't see it
First of all, Rove is the Deputy Chief of Staff; this is not a glamorous position. Whoever replaces Rove (if he leaves) will be a virtual unknown (like all previous Deputy Chiefs of Staff). Nobody uses that position as a pedestal to the presidency.

Secondly, what would be the point in starting a scandal? The only purpose a scandal serves is that it makes the whole Bush administration look corrupt. If the plan was as you suggest, then why wouldn't Rove just resign and say that he wants to spend more time with his family?

I think some people give them TOO MUCH credit-they ain't that smart. They just figured they were getting away with everything so why not this treasonous act-they figured the press can't touch us NOBODY can-they were wrong. They scared the MSM one time too often and now they are getting the horns and it's about time.
