Nothing will happen to Rove
I hate to say it but nothing will happen. He will still be in the white house.

1. Wag the Dog
Here's my prediction: since the story is not yet going away, we are going to have a Supreme Court nominee by this Friday. That will distract the media, and the country, for the next few months, and as you suggested, Rove will be perfectly safe.

9. Tragically true
He will probably get away with it... The funny thing is I read in the op-ed today (seattle PI) that apparently she wasn't classified yet, thus there was no security leak. I don't know where this peerson got that info from. But I'm sure that side of the story is widely being spread. like you said: he'll fade back into the shadows he loves to play in.

17. That's exactly what the freepers hope, they even say so.
Their solution to PlameGate: sweep it under the rug.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1442040/posts

However, they are relying on us to be myopic. I think we will be able to deal with more than one topic.

Hrm... here's a thought... let's start tying Plame into SCOTUS. Like, will Bush appoint someone to SCOTUS likely to overturn a PlameGate conviction on appeal?

The new name should be checked for their stand on the reporter confidentiality issue, and on issues of national security.

(Oh and don't forget personal property rights, a good wedge, of course.)

3. You sound like the Republican Mantra
Say it often enough and it becomes the truth. Karl Rove is up to his neck in this. Tell me this man did not check into the background of Valerie Plame, it was his responsibility to check her job status before he outed her. He either did not or he did and either option is bad for him. He should of known better than out a CIA agent.

If you think his three visits to the Grand Jury doesn't put him smack in the middle of this investigation, you are dreaming.

It took weeks to get Haldeman and Erlichman out of the WH. Savor the moment and wait. It will happen. Rove is going down. Like the Nixon aides he'll do some time.

Remember, in Watergate the big events precipitated from actions in the Justice department, not the press. The grand jury and special prosecutor are not going to fold up shop just because of a stonewalling White House. But these things take time to do right. And we *all* want it to be done right.

The press may temporarily distracted, but the grand jury and special prosecutor are not going to forget.

He'll go on to get a pardon, write a multi-million dollar book, become a highly paid "analyst" for CNN or FOX, and maybe go on to host his own show.

Comes up: married to Valerie Wilson (formerly Plame)

One google click from Karl's leak, there it is.

She's Joseph Wilson's wife - they are married right? There's public records with her name. The fact that she's an agent was disclosed by Rove.

22. After seeing his shit-eatin' grin at the conference today, I tend to agree
He had the look of the truly invulnerable, showing no concern whatsoever. Rove, of all people, is not going to hang for this. Hell, he could probably set up W to take the fall if he wanted.

The best use Democrats can make out of this is to hang his security breach on the GOP like the albatross on the ancient mariner, and use Rove's political longevity against them.

He should of check Plame's background. He was responsible for letting her name out and not checking is as bad as if he did check. Either way Rove is f**ked.....

29. Rove has done a lot of stuff in the past that he
has gotten away with, I understand that. But Rove is human, or at least I think he is and in being human, he is prone to make mistakes. This is the mistake we have been waiting for. Even Rove can trip on his own meat.

Think of all the things he has pulled, it was his time to get caught. Bush Sr outed him in his administration, this is nothing new.....

30. If nothing happens to Rove, then ...
it must be fine for anyone to out covert operatives. In fact, any form of treason would seem to be A-OK. After all, we already know that multi-billion-dollar fraud is just fine, particularly in a war zone.

36. I wouldn't be surprised
Things are different now then with Nixon. The republicans have control of everything. I doubt anything will happen too although I hope Fitzegerald doesn't give up if he's able to prove anything with Rove and leaking Plame's name. This was a national security issue and a reason for going to war and shows Bush lied about Iraq and should be at the Hague with his whole administration.

Precisely because of the point you made - the GOP has control of everything. Everything. And they've brainwashed the population so much it doesn't look like it's going to get any better for a long time.
