People calling their Senators got Durbin to apologize. It puts pressure on them to do something. It's probably the most effective thing you can do to get them to speak up and put Pressure on Bush. This is what being a good citizen is all about.

Think about working for a business and you get 1000 calls complaining. It's extremely stressful!!! Those answering the phone keep track of the number of calls they get for and against something and they give that information to the Senators. Moveon and ACT have an organized e-mail campaign telling their members to do this. Why? Because it works!

8. Durbin is a Senator.

Rove is in the White House. Does the Senate have any say in whether Rove stays or goes? I don't think so. So again, I ask what is the point? Do I want Hillary Clinton or Chuck Schumer grandstanding about Rove? Not really. Do I want Rove gone. When you get right down to it, I don't care if he stays or goes. What I want is for Rove to be thoroughly exposed for what he is and let his hideousness speak for itself. But I don't think Clinton or Schumer are the conduit for that result.

covering it. Why do you think they are in a Frenzy on FOX news using their talking points about the President saying Rove shouldn't be fired and that the President never actually said that??? Sure it doesn't matter if Rove gets fired!!! IN FACT it's more damaging to Bush if he doesn't fire Rove and the longer he doesn't fire Rove and the Democratic leadership keeps the pressure on Bush the worse Bush will look when he finally does fire Rove or Rove is convicted. What is important here is making Bush look like a hypocrite for saying he would fire someone for this and now going back on his word. Politics have worked like this since the beginning of time. It's all about making the other side look bad! It's not about Rove being fired.
