People are WATCHING the ROVE FOOL!

I was in a little Diner for lunch today.

CNN was on the TV.

Folks were talking all through the discussion on the SPACE MALFUNCTION, The illness of the SC judge, FLORIDA but...

When ROVE hit that screen, people were GLUED, absolutely GLUED and were not eating, just watching.

Have you seen this happening?

11. It did my heart good because

I don't think they would have been watching so closely if they were in love with him.

It was different.

You could just tell that they wanted to know if he was going to get what he deserved.

Finally, MSM is trying to tell the truth.

That is all we ask.
Don't slant the news just report the TRUTH.

45. I am laughing my ass off-the marketing master is one ugly package
Mr master of the spin and screw over is not attractive, not likeable and generally looks like the kind of person that people love to hate.

I guess when the bush reich made him their main man that they never considered rove might one day be on trial in the public eye.

Rove may be the master of dirty tricks but he is unappealing as hell and it appears that all but the die-hard freep types have a natural aversion to him.

WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED, he downplayed it then, and he is downplaying it now... but when the verdict comes down.... or rather the sentence... I hope the kool aid will wear off. Perhaps then we can have an intelligent conversation about the whole sordid affair.

9. Los Angeles, Wilshire District

I tried to look around to assess the people there.

They were all ages, mostly white, maybe more in their 30 - 40's.

About 3 African Americans plus me.

Glued I tell you, with their mouths hanging open.

5. I haven't noticed it, but today at work i was speaking with the
fella from the other side and we were talking about it. And I was going on about how Rove probably perjured himself and committed obstruction of justice and the guy laughed it off. I told him that's how they got Clinton, lying about a frickin blow job.

And then I asked him about the Lies of WMD. And here is his response:

"Well we needed to know and now we know they have none" "those are things we have to know for sure"

not kidding folks!

13. Was getting my car serviced today. The business is owned by
staunch repugs and I always feel uncomfortable giving them my business. They are lovely people, pleasant, honest, reasonably priced, etc. But Faux News plays 24/7 in the customer area. A group of 5-6 people were sitting there listening to Chimpy and I snorted, laughed at him and rolled my eyes. Instantly the guy to my right looked at me and said, "Isn't this guy the biggest asshole ever?"

Naturally, I agreed and then we started talking about Rove, and segued way into an abbreviated list of all of their lies, etc. By the time we got rolling everyone in the waiting room was adding their .02¢ and not one single person took up for or defended Chimpy, Rove, Cheney, the war, etc. General consensus was the country was good and screwed. It was a very special moment for me here deep in Red State country. A little old lady finally got up and asked one of the owners why they had the TV on Faux. He (very surprised) told her he would change it and she said put it on anything but Faux - they do nothing but lie.

Of course, the TV was changed to some soap opera but even that was more realistic than listening to Chimpy try to speak.

Good day, very good day.

17. Thank you! Great story! I ran into the same situation the other day....
...during a barbecue with my wife's sisters and brother and their families. Those things are usually pretty pleasant affairs where everyone eats too much and conversation centers around all of the kids.

At a lull in the conversation I asked what everyone thought about the Downing Street Memo, and my brother-in-law, the retired Marine who's been waiting to get his call back, stated quite clearly "That asshole lied about why we needed to go into Iraq, and a lot of good Marines are dead along with a lot of Iraqis who didn't need to die". After that, the barn door was open and Bush and his buddies took some real shots that day!

I drove home later thinking that life was good...haven't had that feeling for a number of years.

I was listening to it the other day and realized that we FINALLY have a voice.

The shows have so much class compared to the insanity of the Pill Box Rush and Fox.

It is hard to gauge how many listeners have gain a better understanding of the problems since the diebold selection of Bush.

repugs. They might listen to him, but, Randi, well, they'll never let her in. He's the velvet hammer. There would be no aar without him and Randi and Janine. They're saving the world.

Maybe you have moments where they irritate you, but, hell, this administration brings out the worst in everyone. They're fearless, and they're heroes.

21. Yea for YOU and your Story of the Day

I read your story carefully and there was something that you did that was cool!

You were brave enough to roll your eyes! That gave others the opportunity to express their thoughts too!

I am recalling that when I was in the diner yesterday, I was almost as brave. As soon as I saw ROVE's name on the screen, I dropped my newspaper and LOOKED at the screen with interest. That was when the others did the same thing.

I think we must be brave enough to send a signal and then the ones that want to know the truth will open up.

We risk getting slammed by a Fundie but so what --- at least they know that WE DON'T APPROVE OF THIS GOVERNMENT.

Great story! Normally most people just sit there reading when that crap is on. I'm betting a lot of them are thinking the same thing you just posted. We should speak up and ask them to change the channel.

"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" Thomas Jefferson.

It really is all in how you frame the discussion and I've seen a bunch of 'em read the other stickers shaking their heads, then stop when they got to that one.

The dems can't let the repugs claim the title of the patriotic, moral party and expect to attract middle america. Luckily for us, they're now, finally, coming across as the ultimate hypocrites--which is just what they are!

22. "his side is winning"
That is the telling thing in these kinds of situations with the repukes...to them, and to us I guess, it is a WAR..."their side" vs "our side." Whereas I like to see a jerk like rove get his comeuppance, I don't think it will change a single repuke's mind about what "side" they are on....they will excuse any atrocity, any lie, any cover-up, and dirty trick, as long as they are "winning." The only group this rovescapade will impress is the truly-independent group. I think that their "side" will continue to "win" for a while, because of the PSYCHOLOGY of identifying with the "winning side" even if that side is sleazy. At the bottom of each repukes heart is a sense of pride and satisfaction with the dirty tricks of rove and his ilk...all's fair in WAR.

27. Let's keep our eyes open and check the TRUTH temperature

If you are in a gtoup, try to be brave enough to express your displeasure when you see Rove's mug on the TV screen.

Then make some kinda gesture (no not the middle finger) when you see ROVE's face on the screen. Something to let people know you know he is a "BAD" guy.

Report back to us.

I'll bet you it will work.

People are just waiting to be empowered.

when people finally caught on and starting paying attention and the tv started talking about it and not just the papers.

She says first everyone was really focused, trying to understand what it was all about. Then there came realization that it was very bad and went all the way to Nixon. People got anxious and worried.

I think we will see that this time but with the added factor that the core true believers will react badly when it all starts coming down. There will be lots of angry frothing from them, and they won't go easily. THAT makes me anxious.

Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 10:57 PM by CantGetFooledAgain
I've been thinking a lot about this, and I think it's important to realize that all the media coverage in the world, and even public opinion, all means exactly nothing compared to the "ongoing criminal investigation" itself.

The WH would simply wait this out as they have a hundred other scandals (Jeff Gannon, anyone?). But what makes this different (sorry for stating the obvious, but I'm thinking out loud here) is that this is officially a criminal matter now. And not one of us knows how it is going to turn out.

Imagine the pressure on this one prosecutor. Imagine how much the WH already wishes they had used their power and influence to get a more friendly prosecutor that would make the whole thing disappear in a plausible way. Fitzgerald's bonafides are already to an extent proven by the damage that his prosecution has already done to this administration. We can only hope that it continues.

IMO, our fate as a country is to a great extent in the hands of one man right now.

I won't defend these clowns BUT for over five years now all we have heard is the giant sucking sound of the media kissing bush's butt and now all of a sudden I am hearing people like Cafferty on CNN slamming the government and asking "what the hell is going on in this country?"
He did that this AM regarding wasted billions and no weapons of mass destruction and I about fell out of my chair--
Do they KNOW the fat lady is warming up to sing?
Self preservation or whatever...What other explanation is there?

Then on the other hand I keep thinking dissent from a bunch of robots on cable has to be a put up job for some unknown spin in the future...it all seems too good to be true!
