Call it Treason, not Rovergate, Please!
It needs to be called by its proper name, treason, not another cutesy easy to ignore name like "Rovergate". We need to use the proper name everytime we mention it. Please, call it Treason.

10. no "gate", just treason
too many usages of the word "gate", it has lost it's punch. Call it simply treason.

12. Thank you!
The "-gate" suffix is one of my pet peeves.

We didn't need it for Iran-Contra or the S&L scandal and we don't now.

I dare call it...treason!

"Gate" has lost its meaning after 12,933 "---gates" in the media. Call it treason.

6. I know how you feel...for the first time, really ever, the MSM appears
to be fully on board a story which could be devastating to the Bush White House....lets not trivialize it by tagging on a "gate"...

26. "Gate" has come to mean "scandal" in the popular
lexicon. Attaching it allows the uniformed to understand that there is a SCANDAL that involves TREASON-which is pretty powerful and not "trivial" imho.

15. It's not treason
The founders were concerned that the charge of treason not be used for political purposes, hence they set a high bar. Here is what they said:

Article 3, Constitution of the United States:

Section 3 - Treason defined. Proof of. Punishment of.

1. Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

2. The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture, except during the life of the person attainted.

17. Welcome to DU col_klink
Keep reading about this case. The founders may have put this in the constitution, but it is also illegal for Rove to have revealed a covert CIA agent to the press and the charge is treason.

to the enemy, I do not know what is.

16. Another reason why we shouldn't use "Rovegate"
it's kindalike getting a bad tattoo when you're 14 and then you turn 20 and you're like "oh, shit".

Rove is only the beginning.

22. Hehe, my brother's stepkid tattooed his gf's name on his chest.
Now they've broken up. Of course. When he showed it to me, I couldn't help myself. I said, "Geez, that was stupid." The kid also has a tattoo of a cross on his upper arm. I asked him what he would do, if like me, he became an agnostic or an atheist in a few years. :)

This is the same kid who pre-enlisted in the army with his mother's permission. *shakes head* I'm sorry, but my perception of this kid is that he makes a lot of serious mistakes.

They BETRAYED us. They did it to EXPLOIT us for their personal gain. Political abuse of power.
