Did Bush say he'd "fire" the leaker? Or "take care of them"? |
|
The latter could mean any thing, such as (per Steven Colbert on TDS) making the leaker the new chief Justice. This would be in line with promotions given to other major fuck-ups in this administration. Remember - it's Bush's War!

I ain't buying that rove didn't name Plame because he didn't use her name, and I ain't buying that "take care of" doesn't mean "punish".

2. He DID NOT use the word "fire." |
|
So "taken care of" could mean a medal, a raise, or a hum job from Scott McClellan.
It could mean anything Bush WANTS it to mean.

6. If he was in "cowboy" mode, he would've meant firing. |
|
Maybe he was in "nurture" mode...?

7. He was in "Turd Blossom" mode. |
|
He was in "I'm a spoiled frat boy who's never accomplished anything of value in my life" mode.
He was in "I'm a coward who went AWOL from the National Guard assignment my daddy set up for me because I was too afraid to go to Viet Nam" mode.
He was in "I'm an Oedipal, substance abusing, useless POS" mode.
He was just BEING HIMSELF.

4. He actually said both. |
|
His first response was "they'll be taken care of". But in another Press Conference, he was asked "If someone in your anminisstration were found to have been part of the leak, would you fire them" he said "YES!"
Now, it is parsing words when they say Shrub never said he'd fire them, however, he answered YES to the question "would he".

8. OK, I stand corrected, BUT... |
|
...based on the current Rove "defense," Bush STILL did not use the word "fire."
"Yes" is not "fire."
I know it sounds stupid, but he did not use the word.

12. True in a sense but... |
|
When he answered the reporter's questions "Will you fire them?" he said Yes. Which is exactly the same as him saying he would fire them.

9. I don't care and I'm not biting. |
|
He indicated that he would get rid of whoever leaked. So far he hasn't. And yet again, he's a liar.
Worrying about the exact language that he used is what Faux News does.

"I made that very clear last week. The topic came up, and I said that if anyone in this administration was responsible for the leaking of classified information, they would no longer work in this administration. This is a very serious matter." -- Scott McClellan, Oct. 2003

13. Did you murder that person? Yes......it is an answer to a question |
|
Did you lock the door? Yes
That means you locked the door.
So it all depends on what "Yes" means right?

15. Fox News said: Bush never said he would "fire" whoever the leak was |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 10:48 PM by jsamuel
OMG! They are parsing the language as much as Rove is with the never said her "name" bit!
They then showed a clip of Bush saying: Whoever did this "would be taken care of" And said, See the Dems are lieing, he never said "fired"!
But they did not show: Scott (WH Breifing): said they would be "fired" President being asked if he stands by his statement that anyone involved would be "fired", and he answered "yes"
What a bunch of crooks!
