Fox News needs to be taken down
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 10:08 PM by jsamuel
They are supporting the Treason. This is an outrage. The other media stations need to show how Fox News is not news, but a Republican (and by that I mean the part of the party run by Rove) tool used to spread their propaganda.

How can we take down this news station that is defending someone who commited treason and recently has make 5 horrible statements a day ranging from insensitivity of death to sexism?

Link to some media talking about how Fox News is a supporting treason:

1. Only the kool aid drinkers think that Faux News is credible
Faux News is a right wing pandering entertainment channel, nothing else.

2. they are getting worse
They are getting worse by the day, unfortunately, they are still topping the cable news shows and by far.

Its like each of them is trying to one and another.

Gibson this week has been down right repulsive.

3. Who is going to take them down?
CNN, MSNBC (which is close to going out of business)?

Give us a real alternative cable news network and see how fast Fox folds.

4. Fox should be considered a PAC (political action committee)
There's enough evidence to prove that the entire Fox News operation is nothing but a partisan machine to promote the Republican Party. It's an "in-kind" political contribution to the GOP. So, it should be required to comply with political spending limits and FEC regulations.

I believe someone (MoveOn.org?) has a complaint at the FTC, saying the "fair and balanced" phrase is false advertising and therefore against the law. I don't know if the complaint has been heard yet.

5. Makes you wanna scream doesn't it....stay focussed on the prize though..
...Rove's goose is cooked...unethical conduct at a minimum, treason at a maximum. Likely not the latter, but make no mistake...this is going to be a big blow to the presidency of a man who vowed to bring "integrity" back to the White House.

7. That is true, however I think we should make a big deal over Fox News
supporting Rove during this time. That way when everyone KNOWS that Rove commited treason, Fox News will look like a treason supporter.

Because that's what they are right now. They are supporting someone who commited treason rather than reporting to the American people the truth.

8. That is horrid
Unbelievable how some can overlook treason for political gain, isn't it?

I think that if Fox News was shown to be who they really are, then that would cause the WSJ to be more responsible because the other networks would hold them to much higher standards than what they are held to now. Fox News gives the WSJ the ability to be further right than Fox News and not look much worse.

16. WTF? We KNOW the nuke story was B.S. What the hell are they
trying to say? This is beyond stupid.

Here is where you really see their stripes. The WH needs cover and the Journal is giving it to them -- even when it is blatantly wrong.

11. Let 'Em Dig Deeper And Deeper
The shriller they get, the closer to the truth we're getting. The more they go over the top, the more moderate people see us as reasonable and in control.

Take em down? Nah, now's the time we really show 'em for the shills and propagandists they are. People are finally starting to pay attention to us.

12. Also good point
The only reason why I just called for it is because they have gotted remarkably worse in the last 2 weeks. They were bad before, but this is supporting treason. The further they go the more people like me and not like me will see them for what they are. Propagandists for people who commit treason...

19. Remember, We're On Your Side Here...LOL
Sometimes it's hard to remember, and easy to preach to the choir. You don't need to sell me on the propagandist nature of this enterprise...I knew it from the day it was announced in 1996. Nothing surprises here.

What DU does well...as do many of the blogs (Crooks & Liars & DemBloggers) is to archive and then Media Matters debunks and gives us a nice little repository to keep handy.

IMHO, for years Faux got by on its flag waiving...purposely distorting patriotism with right wing rhetoric. That game started to wear off with Schaivo...as the flag flew away and the cross came out. It's no longer proving their biased, it's just when we get someone coming over here or that we meet that are just starting to realize what's been happening, that we patiently help them catch up with all the lies they've been fed for all these years.

If we're able to do that, we'll have a lot of important new friends and allies in the very near future.

Cheers...

15. They're out of control... but according to Randi, their viewership
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 10:23 PM by ailsagirl
is DOWN by 20%

That's got to have an effect sooner or later?? Or perhaps not.
I remember hearing that The New York Post (is that right? the
slimy tabloid owned by Murdoch as well?) is steadily losing $$
but it keeps grinding on.

I think they were the ones who featured a huge photo of Eric
Clapton's son-- dead. On the front page. Nice, eh?? That's
about the mentality. NOTHING is off limits. :puke:

18. Fox News said: Bush never said he would "fire" whoever the leak was
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 10:34 PM by jsamuel
OMG! They are parsing the language as much as Rove is with the never said her "name" bit!

They then showed a clip of Bush saying: Whoever did this "would be taken care of"
And said, See the Dems are lieing, he never said "fired"!

But the did not show:
Scott (WH Breifing): said they would be "fired"
President being asked if he stands by his statement that anyone involved would be "fired", and he answered "yes"

What a bunch of crooks!

21. I worked for a FOX O&O (owned and operated) until last year. It's not
quite the same thing as the FOX News Channel, but close.

What I can tell you about the FOX culture, as I understand it, is:

1) FOX like any other large corporation is driven by the bottom line.

2) There are many people working at FOX who do NOT subscribe to the Murdoch mentality.

3) Because of 1) the thinking was that they were pandering to what people wanted to hear. That was the neo-con agenda. (In the FOX view.) TV tends to pander to what we called "Joe 6-Pack". If Joe wanted to have his juices energized with talk of war, they would cater to it. I have sat in meetings where FOX execs (corporate) told us we had to do news that would "appeal to the smart urban professional with very little time on her hands." (Read what? Single, black woman, with kids, off to work?)

4) When the tide turns, FOX will pander to whatever they feel will get them the most ratings. No question. If the ratings are down 20% now, they will change such important things as graphics, anchors, and writers. But in the long run, they will change content only if the ratings go down even more. I know them well enough to know, they will try ANYTHING to have ratings.

Right now, car chases and banal interviews drive what they do. That's just filler for the flash. Flash drives the "market"; Sound effects when wiping between stories, crawls with all kinds of stupid information,:05 soundbites, video shots on edited stories no more than :02 or so, anchors are featured (not the guests, guests are just there to be sounding boards for the anchors), sensational stories, and any thing you can put on LIVE!

The political agenda of Murdoch is obvious. But even he relents when it's more expedient to make money than play politics. He isn't so much of a "freedom lover" to not cater to communit China. It's all a part of his "building the Rupert empire" phylosohy. He really doesn't care about politics. He cares about MONEY. And creating monopolies. Whatever political group is in power tht will advance that, he will promote. Right now it's Bushco.

I firmly believe he wants to own the world.

So, in closing, my take on FOX is...they are an arm of the GOP and carrying their water. Sort of. They're not married to it, and they're not owned by them. If Rupert starts losing too much $...he'll bail.

A really interesting and telling thing this week was the WH press conferences where it looks like the reporters are getting their balls back. Now why is that? I think it's because they know the worm is turning and don't want to be on the outside.

They really are a bunch of lemmings (after 30+ years I know) and if this adm. starts to lose it, they'll be like phirrana on a KFC chicken leg.
