My 72yo mother is sweet on Jon Stewart
I was talking to her tonight about our local Dem club's upcoming fundraiser, and how we're trying to get Stephanie Miller or maybe a major CA Dem Candidate to speak (we just had Angelides a few weeks ago).

So she says to me "How about that nice looking, smart, funny man on TV". I looked at her and asked who she was talking about. She said "The really smart one, who always gets it right, and is easy to look at.."

I said "Jon Stewart?"

And she says "yes, I like him...he's the best I've seen at skewering politicians since Bob Hope."

I almost fell out of my chair laughing. I couldn't believe she watches The Daily Show, and is dialed in to Jon Stewart.

Mom rocks. She always tells the story about how she was a Republican, until "that bastard Nixon ran...I knew he'd do anything to get elected, so I switched parties, and I WAS RIGHT!"

She's always giving the other old ladies in her swimming class hell about being Republican. I hope when I'm 72, I'm half as smart and cool as Mom!

2. My 66-year-old mother is sweet on him, too.

Says he helps to keep her sane.

She hates Chimp** so much - part of it is having to relive the death and absurdity of the Vietnam era, part of it is me keeping her updated on the administration's bizarre leaps of logic, atrocities, lies and corruption (she hears my rants a lot.)

3. Very cool Mom
:loveya: And my Mom also used to be a republican until this last election. Bush changed her. She likes John Kerry. ;) I think she likes Howard Dean but not as a president but she thinks he's right for the job he's at now. I'm still working on my dad. ;)

4. Well I've always said that if I were old and straight and lived in NYC
that I would totally stalk Jon Stewart. He is one of my favorite people ever.

6. She's Gonna Have To Fight My 71-Year-Old Mom For Him
My Mom *adores* Jon Stewart - so much so that she didn't bat an eye when he said "flaunt" when he meant "flout" (she's an English professor and that's one of her pet peeves). She doesn't love *me* that much, and I came out of her!

8. It's gonna have to be a raffle because my 70 yr old Mom
adores him, too. She watches every episode as many times as they air them. And when Nixon resigned, she threw a party.

lol

11. My 72-year-old mother-in-law
uses "The Daily Show" as her main news source. Seems to work damn well.

My mom (79) is totally proud of him-- she used to work with his mom and was friends with her.

14. My husband and I have a little
game where we give each other a "pass" on certain people...knowing that the odds are over-whelmingly against us ever hooking up.
He gets a pass on Angelina Jolie (I'm so worried) and I get a pass on Jon Stewart.
I'll let you know if the passes ever get cashed.

15. Well, he's classically good looking, like an old movie star...
even though I'm still in my 30's, I like that old fashioned kind of handsomeness. I've never been big on pumped up muscles and feathery hair on a guy. Stewart has the best smile and facial expressions, too; I could look at him all day.

Thank goodness he's not a rightwinger or I'd have a terrible dilemma.

17. Best thing about Jon Stewart is that all this flattery..
would embarass the hell out of him. He has that "who me?" quality about him. (in addition to being hot, funny, and smart).

20. So is Martha Stewart! She says so in VANITY FAIR
Martha's on the cover of the latest VANITY FAIR, and she mentions that she has the biggest crush on Jon Stewart. "He's even more handsome in person!" she says.
