14. no he said that the CIA sent him by request of Cheney's office |
|
What happened was, Cheney's office told the CIA that they wanted somebody to look into Uranium story in Niger. The CIA sent Joe Wilson to do the job, he did it, came back and made his report to the CIA, who then, as far as we know, made the report to Cheney's office.
When Wilson first said that he was sent out to do an investigation that the VP's office wanted, Cheney basically said:"Joe who? I never met him. I never sent him anywhere or got any report from him."
What they are trying to do is play a child's game. Like people are dumb enough to believe that. They are trying to spin it off the real issue and make Wilson look like a liar because he proved them wrong on the Niger story. Dick Cheney told the CIA to send somebody, so they sent Wilson. He knows damn well, Wilson isn't saying he was personally sent by Cheney, but they want people to think that. They also are trying to say that Wilson only got the job because his wife got it for him. That has nothing to do with anything, but these guys use these little tactics all the time to deflect the real issue.

4. So therefore his wife "deserved" having her career ruined and |
|
her intelligence operation outed. Sounds logical to me.

7. Whew! What a relief! That makes a big difference. |
|
If she was only a "pencil-pusher" that makes her "fair game". In that case, it's perfectly OK to have her career ruined and her intelligence operation outed. Serves Joe Wilson right!

9. If she was a pencil pusher, the CIA wouldn't have confirmed that she |
|
worked undercover and wouldn't have insisted on the investigation.
Also, the law covers anyone who has worked undercover within a 5 year timespan of the outing I believe. Even, assuming arguendo, if she was a "pencil pusher" at the time the leak occurred, if she had in fact worked undercover within the 5 years prior to that date, the leak would still be a prosecutable felony offense. The sources from whom she gathered information would still be endangered, and many sources of information for the US intelligence community are now exposed.

8. Now this sounds like a tactic a 6 year old would think up |
|
I hurt someone, but he deserved it.
I'm starting to think that the GOP's core is a bunch of white men who have the social judgement and emotional maturity of 6 year olds with guns.

- She was undercover
- He should have made sure she wasnt undercover.
- He knew enough about her to tell Cooper that she sent her husband to Niger.

16. they claim Wilson says Cheney sent him |
|
But that NEVER happened.
Ask them where exactly he said that and they will go off scratching their heads.
What really happened is that Cheney asked the CIA to investigate the Niger/uranium issue and the CIA sent Wilson to Niger by themselves.

17. The problem is that their tactics often work |
|
and I am not hearing anyone stand up for Wilson. The Dems need to counter this. They need to quote the exact words used and not let Mehlman and the talking points take control of the dialogue.
Smearing is the game plan and while they are accusing the Dems of smearing Rove, they are running a parallel campaign of smearing Wilson. Dems have to step up and stop them.

|
They retracted the 16 words because Wilson told the truth .... no other reason.
