Judge Mathis slams Bush
He just dealt with a case where a student gave fund raising money for a school trip to her mother who needed it for health care.

Normally he'd lecture the guilty party. Today he said he wanted to send a message to Bush, that this is what happens when when "compassionate conservatives" cut money for education AND services for the poor.

1. Good for him. "Stealing" is not something that I'd normally condone,...

(and I'm not now), but this is what happens when people have sick family members who will only get worse without care.

3. in judging i have asked my boys, do you punish the man
that steals a loaf of bread to feed his family that is starving.

your kids are hungry. have no food. have no money. they are going to die. what does a parent do.

i let them sit in that for a while

i am strident on no stealing lying killing.......but

we have to go beyond at times.

4. Judge Hatchett made a similar statement on a show last week
I posted about that one. She was referencing Canadian Socialized medicine that applied to a plaintiff in the case. She said she couldn't wait for our country to step up to the plate and make this available to our citizens as well. I noted at the time that you never know where that statement might get included and the target audience that doesn't usually hear it gets to hear it from them.

Good for both of these "TV" judges!
