www.counterpunch.org crashed or hacked?
i posted some pictures from a counterpunch's interview of a Iraqi resistance group lastnight and when i checked today if the pictures where still showing in the thread they were not,so i went to check if counterpunch had changed the URL but instead counterpunch was offline.
didnt think much of it until i checked a bit later and it was still offline.so i used a dns tool to see if that was the problem and counterpunch's dns server was down,so i figured i will go straight to the ip (after i looked it up with the same tool),but that didnt work either meaning both the server and the dns were offline.
didnt think much of that either untill i checked the same thing again a few hours later and the dns is still down but the old IP address works again.but here is the problem...instead of www.counterpunch.org's normal homepage it now shows the default page of a common internet server.
Normally this can only mean two things, the contents of the webpage gone due to a server crash or malfunction, or they just got hacked.(its a slight oversimplification)

whatever it is its a great site that i have been reading for a couple of years now so i hope they get back soon

1. I get a cover page but no current articles
and the archive section only goes back to Nov. 2004

Looks like they may be trying to restore a crashed server?

2. both nameservers were down too so it could have been their host
must have been some crash for both nameservers and the webserver to be down, they are normally 3 separate machines,if it had been just the webserver i wouldnt have thought much of it.
sounds like someones working on it now though so they must have noticed.
Don't envy them cleaning up a mess like that..
