Sharpton was awesome last night |
|
He really steals the show. I would vote for him if he had more substance. I seriously doubt he would be elected, and I do not think he is prepared for the job (but is a damn sight better than Dubya, who makes Sharpton look like the next Abe Lincoln).
If I was elected President, I would love to have Sharpton be Press Secretary. He is very, very good at speaking, is very funny and can handle the media.
Sharpton came off very good last night. He tried to stop the infighting, and his line about how when the democrats fight, George Bush wins was great.
I am glad he is on the stage because he makes the debates so much more watchable.
On other notes, i think Kerry did a real good job last night. His answers were quick, sharp and well worded. He seemed well prepared. In the other debates I had not been impressed with Kerry, but last night he was very good.

4. He has a way with words |

and a very confident manner. I think he is the perfect press secretary for a democratic white house. I would tape press conferences.

3. He is the Patriarch of the Democratic Candidates. |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 10:02 AM by Drifter
Have you noticed that he seems to be the unofficial spokesperson oft the candidates.
Remember the hecklers during the first debate ? Al was the person who spoke about how the audience should give ALL of the candidates the respect they deserve on the stage.
Last night before his first response, he took the time to Welcome the newest candidate Wesley Clark to New York. I thought this gesture shows that he has a tremendous amount of class (he truly has a uniting personality).
I used to think of him as Crazy Al (like repukes do now). He seemed to be on the outer fringe of sanity. I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for Al as a candidate.
I read a post yesterday where someone presented the idea of Al Shratpton becoming the press secretary for (I forget the candidate). I think this would be great.

I don't think he's the unofficial spokesperson - he's just the one with the most experience playing to the media.
He knows how to jump in and take the stage when others are waiting for "their turn" - Sharpton knows this isn't a high-school debate tournament.
This makes him a wonderful presence at the debates, but I don't think it would make him a good press secretary.

6. I used to think the same way |
|
I was under the impression that he was crazy and a race hustler. I do not think that at all anymore. I think he is great infront of the cameras. I have also gained great respect for Al as a candidate. He is not just a hustler trying to win publicity.

7. best one-liner by Al Sharpton , ...about a year or so ago ...... |
|
Someone asked him if he thought he could handle the job of president. Sharpton replied, .... "if bush can handle the job, anyone can."

10. The comeback about free trade was deadly |
|
The question was do you support free trade or protectionism?
Al: (paraphrase) Not all trade is good trade. The African-American community is here because of a very bad trading policy.
And he went on to vaguely allude to corps selling Americans into slavery.
Awesome.
He and Dean seem to support each other a fair amount. Can't figure that one out yet.

12. African-Americans here due to a bad trading policy ... classic! |
|
I can support Al Sharpton without hesitation.
I'm not sure what "substance" it is some say he's lacking. His remarks about if smirky boy can do it, anyone can; and the comment about Halliburton are spot on.
... not only do we need real people-oriented leadership now ... we could use someone to make us laugh, while, at the same time, addresses the serious issues eroding our infrastruture and misdirecting us daily ...

or sold his endorsement . . . or insulted the Jews . . . or claimed no assets . . . or talked about selling cocaine.
I still can't believe this man is taken seriously by some. Jesus, Larry Flynt is a better face for the Party.

he makes the debates much more interesting. I'd vote for him if he got the nomination. He is right, if bush can do it anyone can. All of our candidates would do a superior job to AWOL.

And the more I see of him, the more I like him.
Unfortunately, I don't think he'd make a good candidate for the same reason Hillary wouldn't make a good candidate--too much baggage that makes them vulnerable to be crushed by the Republican slander machine.
