I tried keeping it short and simple -- nothing brilliant, just easy reading:
Nice.
So, first it was "We didn't do it, and if we find anybody from our Administration did it, we'll fire them". Then it was "Plame was never a covert operative and nothing wrong was done". Then, it was "This was a good thing to do, give Rove a medal!". And now we've arrived to "Wilson is a librul".
Newsflash, Republican propagandists: Joe Wilson could be a mass murderer, and that still would not justify Rove's outing of a clandestine CIA operative and, by implication, of her network.
But keep up the propaganda. It's fun to watch.

3. If you haven't sent it yet, one suggested change... |

"Joe Wilson could be a mass murderer..." - change "mass murderer" to something else. I understand your point, but I don't think that particular terminology is helpful. Otherwise, it's a great letter!

4. Thanks, I was thinking the same thing... |
|
...but only after I had already sent it. Oh well. :) Maybe I should have gone more along these lines: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4097309

6. I caught a couple of things that I would have changed in mine... |

after sending it. *sigh* Anyway, I got a call today that it's being considered for publication... seems they have a slew of Rove letters.

8. Karl Rove & National Security |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 03:05 PM by Sapphire Blue
To the Editor:
Karl Rove, White House deputy chief of staff, is involved in leaking the identity of a covert CIA operative. Mr. Rove’s act was one of political revenge, to falsely discredit that agent’s husband, who had dared to speak out against the Administration’s lies in the lead up to the war. Mr. Rove’s act may also be an act of treason; knowingly revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative is against the law, and an act of treason.
Mr. Bush and his White House spokesman, Scott McClellan, when questioned by the press, continually refuse to comment on Rove, citing the ‘ongoing investigation’. Meanwhile, the RNC, having no qualms about discussing an ‘ongoing investigation’, distributes talking points in an attempt to further falsely discredit the agent’s husband.
President Bush has, in the past, indicated that anyone in the White House involved in this leak would not remain in the Administration. President Bush must make national security a priority and follow through on this; he must fire Karl Rove and revoke his security clearance. To do less would be un-American and endanger the safety of our country.
on edit:
The changes I would have made would be using the terms "President" & "operative" consistently, rather than "Mr." & "agent".

Only a minor qualm:
President Bush must make national security a priority and follow through on this; he must fire Karl Rove and revoke his security clearance.
In addition to that, it must be investigated whether Rove acted on his own behalf or as a part of a conspiracy, and whether there has been a coverup after the fact.
Great letter, otherwise! :)

10. I thought about that, but wanted this letter to focus exclusively on Rove |

... and Bush's duty to this country in regard to Rove. Also didn't want to be perceived as a 'left-wing conspiracy nut'. My aim was to come across as more patriotic than partisan... hope I did.
On edit: Or at least balance partisanship w/patriotism.:dem: + :patriot:
