GOP nervously eyeing Rove and CIA probe


Republicans are nervously watching the fight over Karl Rove's involvement in a news leak that exposed a CIA officer's identity, fearing that President Bush's chief adviser has become a major political problem.

While the president passed up another chance Wednesday to express confidence in his deputy chief of staff, his political team engineered a series of testimonials from members of Congress who praised Rove and condemned Democratic critics.

Sooner or later the Repukes up for reelection are going to wake up to the fact that the Bush Administration is increasingly becoming a liability. When this is finally brought home to them, Rove, and a lot of others, will be left twisting in the wind.

3. We'll know that this is getting to them when...

CuckooBananas does a national, prime time speech solely on Rove/Plame. Just like Nixon during Watergate. The big Watergate speeches were at times when the pressure was the highest.

Then, we'll know that we're really getting to them and that very little is being accomplished in the West Wing but Rove/Plame cover-up and strategy.

mouth-pieces going to do when Rover goes down (no pun intended) along with a few other top bush toadies? The '06 elections aren't that far away and they're going to look pretty stupid playing footsie with a traitor to his country.
Oh well, it's not my place to worry about how moronic these guys are. If they want to tie themselves to a 300 pound anchor going overboard, what business is it of mine? :shrug:
