Public opinion re: Rove ......... What does it matter?
Okay, so the RW screech monkeys are all going at top volume, working like a tag team in the echo chamber.

But what does public opinion of this issue really gain anyone? Rove is guilty or he's not. Fitzgerald has a case or he doesn't. A court of law and a jury of twelve will be deciding this. Other than public perceptions of the Repub party, why does public opinion matter?

And on a peripheral thought ....... what if, in fact, Rove isn't ... and never was ..... the person Fitzgerald's going after. Would it be the hoot of hoots if, for example, the 'target' is someone else ...... like maybe ....... oh ..... Crashcart?

1. It strips Rove of his power NOW.

He can no longer call an editor and threaten to withhold press access...it negates his political capital. He can no longer operate out of view - he is in the limelight.

Cockroaches Hate The Light.

The door opens...and a sliver of light shines in...see them scuttle.

Scuttle about. Round and round they go. Scuttling to avoid the light...looking for a dark corner to hide in.

Scuttle about...scuttle about....

2. And if there is a huge cancer on the Administration, Rove is only a pimple
in the big scheme of things.

5. I thin that is BS. I have been the total pessimist the whole time the
scandal reporting has been going on, but I think this is it. They were just saying * today was walking with rover and they said it was like the reverse perp walk. This may actually blow the roof off the whole shabang! wooooooohoooooooo!

3. Public opinion is what gets people elected. And we've got an
election coming up in 2006. How the Republicans react to this will influence how the electorate responds to them in 2006 and maybe 2008.

9. I agree fully. My question was about the legal aspects Rove (or others)
might be facing

4. Eats Political Capital like an SUV Eating Up The Gallons
And that is a very good thing. Think of it as the spearhead of the rising distaste for Bush for a clearer understanding of how much good this is doing.

6. You could have a point.
Let 'em hang in there for a while. Let more and more dirt get unearthed. There is such a thing as "cutting your losses". This takes some common sense, though. I think that's a rare commodity in Washington these days.

They should cut him loose but they probably won't. Let 'em hang on, and let 'Em Hang.

7. Reporters are probably scurrying to
uncover whatever they can now to get a scoop now that Rove is weakened and isn't a threat to them.

10. Can you imagine the jury of 12? How ignorant will they have to be to
get on the jury?
