How to recognize a fake/bogus/manufactured Rove document:
1. It shows up at just the right time [for Rove]. (Now.)

2. It conspicuously establishes a timeframe particular to the
would-be participation of the evil-doer in question [Rove].
(“…before he went on vacation.”)

3. It incorporates a current RNC [Rove] talking point which
is otherwise unexplainable. (“Wilson's trip had not been
authorized by…Dick Cheney…”)

4. It creatively explains why something so innocent had to be
kept secret for so long. (“…spoke to Rove on double super
secret background…”)

5. It explains that it was all just a misunderstanding [by
Rove]. (“Wilson's wife… authorized the trip…)

6. It dismisses the [Rove’s] clear motive. (…there's still
plenty to implicate Iraqi interest in acquiring uranium fro[m]
Niger…”)

7. It makes the bad guy [Rove] look like he’s just trying to
do the right thing for the country. (… [you should try] not
to get too far out on Wilson…)

8. It is quickly legitimized by the evil-doer [Rove].
("[See,] I didn't know her name and didn't leak her
name.")

9. The media immediately uses it to clear the evil-doer
[Rove]. (Wall Street Journal, etc.)

Mr. Isikoff, meet Mr. Rather.

11. You mean the contents of his hard drive that Time Magazine
turned over to the prosecutor are fake?

Any computer geek should be able to determine the date and time any document was created.

3. it's releasing classified information which is a crime
Just the information he has admitted to telling was classified. He may not be guilty of the intelligence identities act crime but the crime of espionage for saying that Wilson's wife sent him. He learned this in a classified state department document. Rove, if we still have a democracy, should be toast.

4. hmmmmmm...and now Drudge is releasing
that the NEW YORK TIMES has a amjor piece of NEW information coming out tomorrow.....

Meets all nine (9) criteria? Probably.....

No wonder Bush and Rove were "yucking it up" in the photo op today.

5. This Meme Become Inoperative...
...the moment the indictments come down.

Let 'em enjoy their last days of plausible denial, they're gonna need to come up with something far better to explain to a jury and a prosecutor who see he's now "fair game".

6. Super Secret??
I am sorry but everytime I hear or read the 'double super secret' background it reminds of something I would have expected to hear in the movie Animal House.

Belushi : Ok guys here's some 'double super secret' background on Dean Wormer...

8. The reason they had to word it that way
(in the fake document) is because they had to do make it appear that there are no serious secret communications taking place between the White House (Rove) and the press.

In other words, they are opening a door through which Cooper can whisper, "I thought I was supposed to keep this information secret," and through which Rove can simultaneously shout, "I was just joking around about the secrecy thing."

It's a CYA for both criminals.

13. Yes, hang a little bit of guilt on each player.
No individual is guilty; the Plame secrets just revealed themselves naturally and innocently.
