. . .which I doubt, it should not excuse Rove of any responsibility. As a WH official Rove should know the rules on disclosure and furthermore he should not have passed along that info without confirming that it was OK to do so. Just because he claims he got the info from Novak does not excuse him of his responsibility to protect her identity.

Just because a secret in known by someone without a security clearance doesn't mean it still not a secret. Our government has classified documents who's contents are widely known. It still doesn't mean those documents aren't classified.
