Take Back the word "LIBERAL" |
|
Liberal has been damaged as much as the word "GAY".
Even us liberals , shy away from it, and use other terms such as progressive or "moderate" (which I hate). We have let the RW define us and our terminology so thoroughly, that sometimes many liberals don't even want to say they're democrats. Even that term is in jeopardy. Lets re-grow our spine and stand up and proudly reclaim the word liberal, for if it wasn't for us liberals, where the hell would this country be today!!!!..
Let me begin:
IM A LIBERAL AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!!

"Radical" does not mean "extremist."
Also, a word that really needs to be revived given all this neocon business is "cryptofascist."

4. I've been saying this for years. |

'Bout time.
My boss once called me "one o' those LIBERALS!", in just kind of a joking way (he's really a nice guy), and I just replied: "What a nice thing to say!"

6. Here's What I've Been Saying About It For Years |
|
I admit to being liberal. If anyone asks why, i say "Because i pay attention and i'm smart." Pretty hard to argue with that. It simply takes back the argument, because i honestly believe that if one IS paying attention, and has the ability to logically conclude from available information, one will be liberal. The Professor

7. I'm both a Democrat and a Liberal |
|
But in recent years I usually refer to myself as a liberal (or a liberal Democrat). And I am proud to do so.
I was just thinking the other day that it didn't used to be so. I used to think of myself as a moderate Democrat, and I didn't use "liberal" to describe myself. I swear, I don't think my political views have changed that much, if at all - it just seems like the whole dang country's shifted to the right, and suddenly I'm not so "moderate" anymore! Anyone else feel like the ground has shifted under them this way?
