So I wrote this letter to Tom Vilsack |
|
new head of the DLC.
I am not sure if I should congratulate you on your becoming the head of the Republican wing of the Democratic party. You said that it is "not enough to be angry", but very few elected people are as angry as a large swath of the electorate is. At least very few Democrats. Republicans certainly have profited from their anger and hate in the last decade. The new FPA (Fascist Party of America, formerly the Republican party) now controls both houses of Congress, the Presidency, the Supreme Court, and the media. You said the the Democratic Party needs a "positive message", which is fine, but I hope the DLC finds one soon. Instead, they seem to merely give wider circulation and more credibility to FPA spin points. For example - that Democrats, or non-DLC Democrats, have no positive ideas, and that they are angry. Seeing that happen certainly makes me angry. So how many times will Howard Dean and American Progressives have to pull another dagger out of their back and say 'et tu, Tom?'

1. Tom screwed his base in Iowa |
|
That is partially why he is not running for re-election. He was elected by labor and trial lawyers. We get him re-elected on a pledge not to sign any bill detrimental to injured workers' or plaintiff's in lawsuits (caps, etc). He gets an economic development bill (so we can give $10's of millions to Wells Fargo Bank to build here) and in exchange he goes against his word and signed a bill very bad to injured workers. His priorities are with big business, the DLC will suit him fine.
