DIEBOLD executive to keep lower Profile
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 12:46 PM by Mari333
An Ohio voting-machine executive pummeled with national criticism for his close ties to the Bush re-election campaign said yesterday he wants to make amends.

Walden O'Dell, chief executive of North Canton-based Diebold Inc., confirmed in an interview with Plain Dealer editors that he has been a top fund-raiser for the Republican president, but said he intends to lower his political profile and "try to be more sensitive" in light of the national criticism he has faced. >snip

Harris said the e-mail supports her claims that Diebold's high-tech voting systems are subject to abuse. She said she was "stunned" the company acknowledged the authenticity of the potentially damaging documents.

Harris said she posted the memos after they were provided to her by a Diebold insider. She called the company's claim of copyright infringement "a flat-out attempt to shut somebody up. ... I still have a mouth, Diebold. Cease and desist my mouth." >snip

2. Wanna make amends?
Sell all your assets and give the money to the poor.

Didn't a famous man once suggest such a thing? Seems to me...

3. Diebold should not be allowed to oversee elections, IMO...
their integrity is already compromised, and the CEO keeping a low profile does nothing to alleviate that.

4. You're right...
all he's saying is that he'll keep doing what he's been doing, but he'll do it secretly. He doesn't address changing the behaviour that he's being accused of.

5. In other words, he's really, really sorry...
...that he said it out loud, or that he said it and the wrong people heard him.

This makes me feel so much better!
