Countdown: Plame's outing has serious consequences
On Countdown last night Alison Stewart interviewed former CIA agent, Jack Rice who outlined the National Security damage that the outing of Valerie Plame has caused - contrary to the latest "talking points" by the RNC. Valerie Plame did much more than simply occupy a desk at Langley. Her outing has serious National Security consequences.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8551679/

STEWART: At the time she was outed, Valerie Plame was working for a CIA front company, and obviously she didn't work there alone. Can you explain the ripple effect of her outing?

RICE: Well, this is potentially huge, because what happens now is, everything that she touched, every person that she touched, every asset that she may have come across, is now potentially exposed. Every intelligence organization in the world will now go back and scour their files to see if she was ever in their country, was ever involved with anybody, and try to wrap up every operation. The potential is huge. ...There's a second implication. ...If there's a perception that you're going to see people in blue pinstripe suits in Washington wrapping themselves in the flag and talking about God and country while they're exposing CIA and intelligence operatives, you're going to have a real hard time convincing CIA officers to get out into the field and risk their lives for those people.

Saw the interview last night and thought....when will the CIA come to the aid of Plame/Wilson? Then I remembered handpicked Goss was in charge...so probably never.

2. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a little midnight freelancing.
You do NOT fuck with the CIA.

10. I suspect you're right
There's got to be a lot of anger at CIA about how this admin has screwed, abused, and betrayed them, and pushing out all those senior level folks when Dumbya inserted Goss had to make it more so.

They deal in compartmentalization there, and I suspect that Goss and his henchmen are compartmentalized out of the loop on some of what's happening. The ones who were forced out--well, you know what they say, no one ever really leaves the agency. They still have friends and contacts.

I suspect that the recent cajone-ization of some of the press is probably an Operation Mockingbird project.

4. The CIA is full of liberals. Their only goal is to take Bush down.
Rush actually said that yesterday (driving around at lunch).

6. ho ho that's rich
They're doing that on their own! They need no help hanging themselves. They even provided the rope!

They were just too confident. Now they are realizing that their collective shit eating grin tastes like....well SHIT!

7. More to the point, they're going to remember who talked to her
At scientific conventions and the like. That was what she really did, went to seminars and so on and tried to meet WMD people from unfriendly countries and turn them. No telling how successful she was, but it is very likely that these people had "friends" keeping an eye on them. Which is probably why she was wearing a scarf and a wig in that picture with Wilson, but any spy worth his salt can find another picture of her from somewhere.

9. Send this post to your local editorial page editor.
Maybe they can work it in to their Sunday editorials.
