Al Franken had an interesting take on Bolton's involvement with Plame |
|
I was listening to AAR this morning and Franken talked about a new "wrinkle" on the Plame affair. Franken was putting together the pieces, and suggested a possible reason the administration does not want to release the Bolton's intercepts ... Franken figures that Bolton may have been checking up on Plame and her WMD missions and that Bolton might be revealed to be involved in this whole Plame fiasco.

1. That's almost too good to be true |

I'd like nothing better than to find out that Bolton acted illegally to serve his masters........
To be honest, I thought about that this morning in the thread that questioned whether Powell would "take the fall" because he was in possession of a memo on the Wilson trip when he was on his way to Africa. That memo was generated (apparently) in the State Department but nobody seems to know by WHOM in the State Department.
Bolton was a player in these games....so I don't consider it to be outside of the realm of possibility that Bolton is in it.

2. I thought the same thing when I first read about questions about Bolton's |
|
request for CIA agent info that the WH was withholding.
I've been waiting to see Bolton's name pop up in the investigation. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting.

Assistant Secy of State for Proliferation issues? In that capacity he certainly would have been aware of Plame's projects....

5. My thoughts exactly, Rove's source is either Bolton or Cheney. |
|
But it being Bolton is just priceless, wouldn't it be hilarious if the info that the WH has been hiding exposes Botlon as the fella that pushed the CIA around to find out Plame's name.
Karma's a bitch, hopefully she is catching up to this evil administration.

6. If this is in fact what happened and it comes out |
|
All the Dems need is modest gains in 2006 for impeachment to become a legitimate option.
I think a conspiracy such as this would flip most of the moderate republicans, many who have been silently against Bolton all along, against the White House.

8. I was really surprised to hear Al saying that |
|
He's usually so reticent and unwilling to take a leap, but there he was, making the connection.
For what it's worth, I agree that it seems like a very logical connection, and it certainly explains why Bushco continues to stonewall on releasing the Bolton documents.

10. Do they have a specific reason to suspect Bolton? |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 03:02 PM by eyepaddle
Because if they do, I can't imagine better news on a Friday! Unless of course the news was that evil and incompetent people no longer ruled out country.
It is certainly very plausible, this was Bolton's area (WMD) as it is Plame's, plus it is certainly within Bolton's character.
