I've heard that Valerie Plame was "outed" by Aldrich Ames...
I believe it was Larry Johnson who said that.

She was recalled to Washington after that "outing" and was working at a desk in Washington D.C. in a Non Offical Cover role.

So maybe technically Karl Rove didn't "out" Valerie Plame? Although it is alleged that he mentioned her to Robert Novak.

4. Larry Johnson was on Air America Radio last night....

I believe that is where I heard him say that.
He was also on the Ed Shultz Show yesterday afternoon, he may have said it there also, I'm not sure.

You might want to check Air America Radio's archives for "The Majority Report" with Sam Seder and Janeane Garafalo for Thursday July 14.

Larry Johnson appears 56 minutes into the broadcast

2. Still guilty
I doubt the fact that someone else did it first is an excuse for compounding the damage.

5. You're right -- it makes no difference
Just because the Russians knew, actually it was the 'Soviets' back then, doesn't mean it was safe to publish her name and the name of her front company, in the newspaper. The Soviet Union wasn't known for releasing their own classified information (which is what they would have considered anything that Ames told them).

Big difference.
