Our BEST Rove talking point
If Valerie Plame was NOT a covert agent, if national security was NOT affected when her identity was disclosed, then there would NOT be an investigation. There would be no need for a grand jury.

1. It wouldn't have been turned over to the Justice Dept.
It's something serious when that happens.

2. Yes, and when they go after Wilson
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 04:55 PM by Check12
Counter with "you people sound like children caught stealing cookies. "but.. joey lied mommy!" It does not matter what J. Wilson did at all, or his wife for that matter. It is very simple; Rove leaked his pants to reporters and jeopardized national security period, end of story.

8. And there would be no investigation
if national security had not been jeopardized.

I had a conservative friend ask me how I didn't know that the grand jury wasn't investigating Wilson. That is how twisted their thinking is.

3. The CIA said she was covert - thus forwarding it to the DOJ to investigate
This is one of the silliest Republic Talking Points.

6. Yes it is
I don't think they realize the CIA asked for the investigation. I am thinking they assume bush asked for it.

4. Larry Johnson, former CIA and anti-terrorism expert on Majority Report
last night made some fascinating points. He said that whenever a CIA undercover agent is outed, the CIA does an immediate damage assessment to see what assets have been compromised. Johnson said that their assessment was probably the reason they demanded that the Justice Dept. investigate the leak.

He also said that you can bet that if the CIA's assessment determined that their operations were NOT undermined, that the Bush administration would have somehow leaked this. After all, if they could prove that there was no harm to national security then they could easily make the claim that the whole grand jury investigation was a political witch hunt.
