The spinning is already happening |
|

7. That's what I'm hoping too... |

when the indictments start raining down, the spin will be useless. Still, it would be nice for some people who remember Watergate to weigh in... was it similar to all this? I know it was awhile before everything came to a head. When Bush tries to have Gonzales fire the special prosecutor, we'll know for certain the way things are headed.

like a million ants eating a Rhino. This is like they woke up one morning with a wild boar chewing on their ass. Panic, confusion and disbelief....but if we dont keep the pressure on it will fade...

15. It was 18 months between the break-in |
|
and the big indictments: Haldenman, Erlichman, Colson, etc. (with Nixon silently named as "unindicted co-cospirator).
If Bush tries to fire the special prosecutor there will be a total meltdown in public opinion, just like in Watergate. If Gonzales fires the special prosecutor, he'll be in the dock for obstruction of justice alongside Rove, Cheney, Bush, et al.
Then again, Gonzales is no Elliot Richardson, who was a very honorable person. I reserve judgement on Alberto in this regard.
There is considerably less honor, patriotism, and devotion to the Constitution today, then there was in the early 1970's. I am very hopeful, but very worried about how this is going to go down. There seems to be nearly zero principled Repugs left in the party. We may have to wait until 2007 to take action. Pray it won't be too late by then.

I'm afraid I remain cautiously pessimistic.

8. If you expect hosts to just attack, attack, attack... |
|
either party, you will be very disappointed.
We've seen Gregory perform his duties as a reporter. He's been fierce this week.
As a host, he's got to listen to and entertain both sides. Even though it's clear to me that he still leans heavily towards our side.
He just said 'Everyone knows that the White House had it in for Joe Wilson (after he made his comments.)"

3. They're discussing and debating. |
|
And Gregory did not say Rove did nothing wrong. He is asking if this could clear Rove legally.
The answer agreed upon was that no one but Fitzgerald could know. They also said that these statements could be self-serving.

4. To be fair, Rove did go on record under oath with that unlikely tale. |
|
Even if the MSM were neutral, I think I'd want them to at least report Rove's defense.
They could be a little less happy about his defense though.

I feel like some more information is going to come out on Rove and others and it will be leaked like Karl is leaking info. This is going to backfire on him..

13. Welcome to DU, Son of CA! As for Gregory, he's done a |
|
superlative job. He'd cover the story, jump to Rehnquist story, jump back to Rove. He's not letting go and seems to be enjoying every step on the way. Perhaps reporters with integrity have discovered their way into finally telling the truth, damn their corporate whore bosses.
