A theory on the reThugs 2006 strategy |
|
This is what I think may happen-
A sudden reduction of troop levels, enough to say we are withdrawing the occupation, but enough left to keep the military bases active and ready to go, fairly close to the 2006 elections. Close enough to the elections, to grab the publics attention, and for the rethugs twist it to appear as a victory.
boosh will offer up one corporate conservative and one religious conservative to the SCOTUS to further the corporate agenda in the court, but not enough to overturn roe v wade, so the abortion issue can be used again as a wedge. Most of all, the judges will be republican loyalists. After all, he got his 3 loonies on the appeals court, where many feel the real power is.
If enough reThugs are elected - some major incident, with the emotional impact of 911, will either be manufactured or allowed to happen. That's when we march in Iran. In 2007. And thats when roe v wade will be overturned and kicked back to the states. The 2008 prez election will have the "stay the course, we are almost at victory in the Middle East" theme.
My theory, anyway.

1. All thoroughly plausible. |

There will be uncontrollable factors for them, of course. Rove/Plame included.

as I was typing the phrase about 911, I just felt sick - Hopefully we Dem's can alter the oh so transparent road the neocons seem bent on taking us down.

The entrance of Iraq was planned around the 2002 elections so I wouldn't be surprised about 2006. I have heard rumors of them pulling out but the Pentagon of course denies it. I don't think they'll ever get rid of Roe V Wade. They know 60-70% of the population is pro-choice and they could lose a lot of "potential" voters and they wouldn't have anything to run on to make the fundie base happy. What else would they talk about? The gay issue would get old after a while I think and they can't always talk about that.
