"Operation Save America": A Week Of Mosque-Picketing Begins
http://www.altmuslim.com/print.php?id=1048_0_26_0_C29
Aside from the well-publicized statements of various evangelical Christian leaders denouncing Islam in the media, the average Muslim on the street has not personally felt the wrath of evangelical Christian America. For the most part, groups on the Christian right have been more focused on getting their message out about issues such as abortion and homosexuality. You'd think that these groups would have their hands full on both these fronts, but one group that calls itself "Operation Save America" is making room in its busy schedule of events this week in Charlotte, North Carolina to protest at mosques. "We're a people that just takes the gospel to the streets," said OSA head Rev. Flip Benham. "God has called us here." The organization is planning nine days of protests and seminars, including topics such as "Why Are All Terrorists Muslim?"

1. Know the difference between a radical Christian and a radical Muslim?
Nothing. They both suck.

FUNDAMENTALISM IS THE ENEMY.

4. Of course
They're the same just a few minor differences. I'm glad I don't live in Charlotte anymore.

2. Are these people represented in government?
Seriously. Did these people vote for Bush? Why are they allowed to vote at all?

It should be a crime to be stupid, and therefore Bush would have lost by a landslide.

make sense. Picketing outside of a mosque makes them look like the stupid bastards they truly are. Protesting Islam isn't going to help America's image...

10. These OSA creeps were in Denver this morning (Saturday)
Have checked the Denver media sites but found no stories, however it seems Denver progressives are not going to legitimize the Operation Save America/Operation Rescue harassments by engaging them and giving them desired publicity -

from Colorado Progressive Coalition website:

Hate Group 'Operation Save America' is Coming to Colorado
Be Aware but Don't Engage (That's What They Want)
CPC Statewide Action Alert: July 15, 2005
~snip~
"CPC would like to let you know that a group of bullies is traveling to Denver to hold its annual conference this year. 'Operation Save America (OSA)' protesters are coming to disrupt the Front Range with shocking imagery and inflammatory rhetoric for a week beginning July 16 and continuing through July 23.

OSA is the current incarnation of Operation Rescue, which initiated clinic blockades and other anti-choice activities in the 1980s. In other cities, OSA protesters have picketed Planned Parenthood health centers and administrative offices. They have protested in the neighborhoods of doctors and other staff members. They also include progressive churches, people of Islamic faith, and gay and lesbian people in their attacks. Their pamphlet "Abortion is murder!! Homosexuality is a sin!! Islam is a lie!!" basically describes their worldview.

~snip~
To prepare for their arrival, Planned Parenthood has contacted law enforcement, national security experts, and organizations likely to be OSA targets. While recycling 20-year old health center protest tactics shouldn't be news, OSA operatives are skilled media mongers and will try to receive media attention while they are here. If they do, let's not engage them and add media attention to their extremism.

If you are outraged by 'Operation Save America', don't let the bullies define your tactics and impose their extremism on our communities..."

11. If this is true, this is a huge huge scandal.
I think some action should be taken against "Operation Save America."

Remember when we got that pastor fired, the one who told all the Democrats to get the hell out of his church?

Well, let's do a job on these guys.

Reply if you agree.

Special report: Eric Rudolph writes home
By Blake Morrison, USA TODAY
SARASOTA, Fla. — "Despite my many flaws, I still hope that you can find it in your loving selfless heart to forgive me. ... And even though I cannot apologize for being who I am and expressing myself in the way that I did, it troubles me greatly that you had to experience any hardships because of my deeds.

17. News: McVeigh and Nicols are Muslims. What idiocy. This is no
Christian group, they use Religion as a cover and excuse for actions which are contrary to it's original intent. Nothing different than the group of crazies like McVeigh.
Throughout history Religion everywhere was used to manipulate and commit atrocities. In the year 2005, humankind should be wiser.
All indications are, vis a vis Santorum, Ashcroft and such we are heading back-wards.

BTW
KOCE, an Orange County, CA TV station, formerly PBS, was saved by a University to stay PBS. The other bidder a TEXAS religious group cried foul, and now it belongs to them. Goodby nasty awful liberal PBS Orange County.
