To Rick Santorum With Love:

We, the depraved citizens of Boston, would like to thank Sen. Santorum for recognizing our city as the modern-day Gomorrah that it is, and pointing out all the ways that Boston has led to the moral decline of the nation. Tools

Dear Sen. Santorum,

On behalf of the depraved, morally relativistic citizenry of Boston, I just wanted to thank you for finally giving us the credit that we deserve. In fact, I was just taking a break from some man-on-dog sex with my Weimaraner, Hank, when I read your comments about our moral cesspit of a city. You called Boston a sick culture that sanctions alternative lifestyles, and said it was no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political, and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm of the Catholic priest child sex abuse scandal of a few years back.

Honestly, I admire someone with the guts to finally expose the Athens of America for the modern-day Gomorrah that it really is. That pussy, Dick Armey, actually apologized after his slip of the tongue before the Democratic National Convention, when he said that if he were a Democrat he'd feel more comfortable having a convention in Boston, than say, America. Even our own governor, presidential opportunist Mitt Romney, softened his tone after taking heat for criticizing Massachusetts on gay marriage during a recent swing through South Carolina.

But you, you stick to your guns. Despite making those comments two years ago -- before the priest scandal became a nationwide phenomenon that included your own home state of Pennsylvania -- you bravely held your ground when questioned about them this week, saying that a worldview like Boston's that affirms alternative views of sexuality can lead to a lot of people taking your words the wrong way.

With all due respect, however, I don't think you've really considered how far the wrong way Boston has taken them. Truth be told, our sick culture of sexual depravity goes back a lot further than gay marriage and Catholic priest abuse. Take the Puritans. I mean, talk about alternative lifestyles! The constrictive clothing, the stocks and irons, the public hangings, the dunking tanks, the flamboyant letters pinned to their breasts....Massachusetts Bay Colony was like an S&M dungeon waiting to happen. And those were the same folks who founded Harvard University, spouting some crap about the need to train a literate clergy. Whereas, we all know that literacy just gets in the way of the quick snap judgments and moral superiority that right-wing clergy (and for that matter certain senators) really need to do their job.

1. "Me doth think he protests too much."
Mark my words, Santorum will be exposed as a sexual deviant - something so egregious that it will be beyond our comprehension. There is a reason he is fixated on morality all the time -- he has none.

Did Santorum get elected for these views he has? Whew. Anyone for mass counseling?

P.S. AlterNet is my favorite site, next to DU. Read it every day. Smart people run it!

2. Maybe Rickie Saintwhorum can answer this for me...
Why hasn't Boston's eveel librul atmosphere caused any pedophilia scandals in the other denominations that have churches there? I'm sure the Methodists would have caved in by now and those Presbyterians would be knee deep in it by now. Add to that those Lutherans and Episcopalians, why they'd be just the breeding ground for such moral depravity, and being in the heart of evil Massachusetts, their will just wouldn't be their own! And the Baptists, the COGIC, the Seventh Day Adventists, the Jehovah's Witnesses, what of them? Why no scandals of such (dare I say it? dare! dare!) biblical proportions there?

Rick? Any answers why? Rick?

You get two hints Rickie:

A.) It isn't Boston that's to blame.

B.) It isn't the good and faithful practicing Catholics that are to blame either.

Stop blaming the victims Senator. Lay it where it belongs, at the feet of the monsters that abused innocent children and those who enabled them.

3. But I thought Liberals only bashed christians
I thought all Liberals were Godless Heathens but yet they are the reason the church Pastors have been fondling little boys. Which is it. Are Liberals the backbone of the church and the reason for it's perversion or are they Godless heaathens?

4. None of the above, yet all of the above?
There are liberals of faith, be they Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc., and there are liberals who subscribe to no particular faith at all. They may hold offices in their respective churches/mosques/synagogues/temples, or just be regular attendees. They are in many ways backbones of both their churches and their communities.

The Senator's inference that they, or the liberal environment of the city of Boston is what caused the hieracrhy of the church to not prosecute these monsters, and even worse, to send them from unsuspecting parish to unsuspecting parish, is both laughable and sick at the same time. It deflects blame in the weakest of ways, and continues the tragedy of laying the responsibility at the feet of others.
