Poll question: Who sent Wilson to Africa?
Let's see if we can narrow this down, huh?

4. I was going to make that a choice...
but I'm not sure why they would--and wouldn't his findings have been classified if they did?

11. I think Wilson said he went at their request but not as an operative
Wilson was an ambassador there and he knew the people. He said the CIA asked him to go but he said he would not go as an operative because he didn't have the right training but he would see what he could find out from his former colleagues and connections as an ambassador.

I suspect the CIA wanted to hear an unbiased onformed opinion.

3. One of Plame's supervisors in the CIA other than Plame
in response to some inquiry by Cheney to verify that the original report was true. Wires got crossed because Cheney's office really wanted the report affirmed and assumed it would be, and Plame's supervisor interpreted the request as wanting true verification one way or the other. Verify can have two meanings as can some of the synonyms for verify.

7. In February 2002, I was informed by officials at the CIA... cont...
In February 2002, I was informed by officials at the Central Intelligence Agency that Vice President Dick Cheney's office had questions about a particular intelligence report. While I never saw the report, I was told that it referred to a memorandum of agreement that documented the sale of uranium yellowcake — a form of lightly processed ore — by Niger in the late 1990's. The agency officials asked if I would travel to Niger to check out the story so they could provide a response to the vice president's office.

6. CIA
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/politics/2002384539_wilson16.html

Wilson never said that Cheney sent him, only that the vice president's office had questions about an intelligence report that referred to the sale of uranium yellowcake to Iraq from Niger. Wilson, in his New York Times article, said CIA officials were informed of Cheney's questions.

"The agency officials asked if I would travel to Niger to check out the story so they could provide a response to the vice president's office," Wilson wrote.

8. Aha! Thank you.
Missed that.

I'm just curious why his findings wouldn't have been classified in that case.

Hmm.

9. A CIA director (not Plame) in response to an inquiry from VP's office.

This has been sliced, diced, and run over with a truck. Cheney asked the CIA to "look into it." The CIA decided to send someone. Wilson's name came up. Since Plame worked there, and was not only a major player in the exact area of inquiry, but also an expert on her own husband, the CIA asked Plame to write up a memo saying what she knew about Wilson's qualifications for the job. Then the CIA decided Wilson was a good pick. Then they asked Plame to contact Wilson about it. Then they interviewed Wilson. Then they decided he was a *definitely* a good pick, and they asked him to go.

Plame did two things. She wrote a memo describing Wilson, and she got Wilson to come to the Interview. That's all.

10. Other - the CIA
Not the top levels, but someone above the level of Valeris Plame Wilson. The trip was instigated by questions from the Vice President's office re: Iraq looking into purchasing yellow-cake uranium from Niger

12. It doesn't matter who sent Mr. Wilson.
All that matters is that a CIA Agent was OUTED and the "Compnay" she worked for was Outed too. How many people have been put in harms way because of Rove? How many have died?

14. Cheney's office wanted CIA to send Plame.
Why would they want an objective evaluation of the evidence if they already knew it was most most likely fabricated? Besides, nothing Wilson reported back on really contradicted the administration's case. He said that the Niger Yellowcake was secure...that doesn't mean that Iraq wasn't trying to get their hands on it. Of course, in retrospect, what good would yellowcake do Iraq if they had no WMD in which to process the Yellocake into a weapon?

So why do in Ms. Plame? Because she might have had the goods on someone in this administration?
