Hillary ESRB /Tipper PMRC? |
|
I don't think we need this folks! Tipper's association with the PMRC definitely didn't help Mr. Gore with the young voters. I feel if this ESRB issue heats up it could have a similar backlash with the younger demographic come election time. Hopefully it will all blow over, but I for one am upset with her concern/pandering over the issue.
It's not just the bigger fish to fry point (which has been made in other threads) I don't see ANY fish in the pan. :wtf:

2. Okay, I see your point |
|
But could you clarify please? ESRB obviously has to do with Grand Theft Auto, though I have no idea what the letters stand for. And I know Tipper was a force behind warning labels on music, but what is PMRC?
Thanks

It stands for The Parents Music Resource Center and was instrumental in putting those "explicit lyric" warnings on albums (which only increased sales, but that's another issue)
Oh and ESRB is = Entertainment Software Ratings Board

is EXACTLY what's wrong with the whole 'nanny-state' mentality that seems to rise up to infect the Democratic Party every so often. It only serves to alienate people we need to get on board.
It's not only a waste of time and energy, it's specifically counter-productive...and a great example of why I don't like Hilary.
I don't even PLAY GTA...I'm a RPG fan, myself.

'alienate people we need to get on board.'
Bingo
Last thing the party needs is some conservative censorship agenda tied to it.

6. Frank Zappa came up with his own warning label |
|
WARNING/GUARANTEE
This album contains material which a truly free society would neither fear nor suppress.
In some socially retarded areas, religious fanatics and ultra-conservative political organizations violate your First Amendment Rights by attempting to censor rock & roll albums. We feel that this is un-Constitutional and un-American.
As an alternative to these government-supported programs (designed to keep you docile and ignorant), Barking Pumpkin is pleased to provide stimulating digital audio entertainment for those of you who have outgrown -the ordinary-.
The language and concepts contained herein are GUARANTEED NOT TO CAUSE ETERNAL TORMENT IN THE PLACE WHERE THE GUY WITH THE HORNS AND THE POINTED STICK CONDUCTS HIS BUSINESS.
This guarantee is as real as the threats of the video fundamentalists who use attacks on rock music in their attempt to transform America into a nation of check-mailing nincompoops (in the name of Jesus Christ).
If there is a hell, its fires wait for them, not us.
