The President's Oath of Office
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 04:06 PM by ck4829
The President is ALWAYS under oath when he performs Presidential Duties.

"Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

What's that mean?

"He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union"
It means he is under oath when he gives the SOTU.

Bush perjured himself when he gave the SOTU.

2. Or, he "misspoke" or "was taken out of context"...
He L-I-E-D, and continues to do so - at the cost of thousands of live. Plain and simple.

3. The Bush Administration is an enemy of the Constitution - He has
sworn to protect the Constitution against all enemies. As President he should destroy his own administration. This is his chance to be a great President. Go for it W, resign.

4. Looks like you have a case
I think you should look into putting it in the form of a formal charge
and circulate it to any and all Dem Sens and Reps as one more bullet in the gun
that's being aimed at his head.

5. There Is More Than That
The part of the oath where it says 'faithfully execute the office of the President' must presume that the President will not lie. To lie would not be faithful in any way I can immagine. So it is my contention that unless he's home splitting firewood and shootin' the shit with the boys he is under oath all the time.

7. You cant prove he knew he was lying.
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 04:52 PM by K-W
That is the problem with a legal argument here.

All you can prove is that he should have known, which is incompetance, not lying. Certainly grounds for impeachment.
