Poll question: What is your gut feeling on what will happen at least to Rove ?
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 06:04 PM by Quixote1818
Based on the latest from Cooper contradicting Karl Rove's testimony what do you think will happen now?

I am only going to give two options because I just want to see where people are leaning on Rove's fate.

Feel free to write below if you think he will see a conviction or not.

5. Unless Bush is impeached. Impeached presidents can't pardon.
But I won't hold my breath on anything happening to Bush.

29. Huh?
Clinton was impeached and issued pardons. Did I miss something, or do you mean "impeached presidents thrown out of office." Which will never happen to Bush, I'm sure, much as we may like to think so.

2. seems to be a pretty compelling case that he's broken several laws
confirming classified information, violating his non-disclosure agreement, USC 641, lying to Federal investigators, lying to the grand jury, and USC 371

4. Indicted, Convicted, and God Willing, Shot
an object lesson for any who come after him. And ditto for his co-conspirators. We have to show that we mean to hold to the Constitution (and I don't mean the Scalia version).

So I'm sure indicting a ham should be no problem at all.

40. Thank you so much!!
It's so refreshing to have "literate" conversation with folks of the same "persuasion" I'm getting so sick of the STUPID, HARD HEADED CONS one encounters on YAHOO discussion "boards" You can talk 'til your blue in the face, and nothing sways them!!! Thay are SO HARDHEADED that to disagree with Bushco is a personal attack to them. They got what they "deserve", but why do we have to suffer for it too! I'm really afraid, no, take that back, I'm really ALARMED at where this country is going. It's going to take a really concerted effort to get it back on track!:grouphug: It's getting so CRAZY on the "boards" that there would be a civil war between the Libs and the Cons if they could reach each other thru' the computer!!:argh:

33. Better late than never!
 I've been on line all night trying to verify my source, with no luck!! I'll tell you where I got it tho'. A poster on the Yahoo news board today titled "Reporter says Cheney Aid was a source". It was message #94065. He stated that Lawrence O'Donnell said on a CNN talk show (?????)on Sat.???????? that he heard that 4 Indictments were handed down on Fri. July 15th!!!!!!! I've tried Google, and CNN's website and can find NOTHING!! This poster was a LIB too!! I guess we'll find out soon enough if this guy had inside information, or was just "GOADING" the Cons. Would be nice to have had a "SCOOP" tho' No? We can only wait and PRAY!!

I'm serious. Bush is so stupid, I think he'll actually do this. Meanwhile, the more radical right wing will push to get Rove's face carved into Mt. Rushmore.

12. Indicted, but by the time it happens there will be so much bullshit...
spread around that the right can justify portraying him as a victim. His martyrdom will be turned in to a positive for Bush, provided he can find someone else to think for him.

35. By the time it happens...
There is so much indictable stuff, I'll bet, that Fitzgerald will run out of time.

Remember Ken Starr? He always thought he found something more and he went on for years only able to prove perjury.

These guys have so many real serious offenses, it will take forever to get to the bottom of it all.

14. He will skate
The Repugs have too much control and too many are defending him to allow anything to happen that they can't spin. Even if he is convicted, he will be pardoned. They will keep screaming that Joe Wilson is the bad guy and never acknowledge any wrong doing by Rove.

the Administrations legacy will be in the shit house until the end of time. They are not buying the smear against Wilson.

Maybe he'll be the first one to go. Then after that, it will probably be Libby and Abrams, then another higher up, and then it will all be downhill from there.

21. I say indictment.
Perjury and obstruction of justice. They have just gotten too accustomed to lying and getting away with it. With a grand jury, there is no lying. I just don't think they can have cleaned up their act enough to get everyone's story straight for the grand jusry, and to have done so without committing conspiracy.

27. I think...
he'll be indicted - but it will drag out forever. No jail in the meantime. I don't think it will have any bearing on his influence with *. He'll simply be subrosa and twice as rabid. Karen Hughes went back to Texas - but has never been 'out of the loop'. She was too much of a lightening rod in DC.

I hope I'm wrong because I really want this stinking house of cards to fall.

30. I agree, the MSM won't speculate on the conspiracy thing yet but
deep down they all know what is really going on here. This extends out to many people and just as O'Donnell said "It appears to be a plot against Wilson."

39. A "Show" Indictment
Bread and circuses. We'll be fed a bullshit show trial or a fake indictment, but nothing will actually happen to Rove. Nothing. BushCo will instead use these dog and pony shows to demonstrate to 'Merka how tough and resolute he is, how he fights corruption at the highest levels, how Bush keeps his word.

They'll use this to attempt to elevate Bush's hero status among the Ignorati. And it will probably work. For a while. But either way, you don't indict the guy who knows where all the bodies are buried. You suicide him, he disappears, but he isn't ever going to step foot in a witness stand.
